It’s that time of year again! Former president Barack Obama has just released his annual summer playlist. This one will surely get you in the mood for sun, sand, and relaxation.
Obama is a long-standing friend and fan of Queen B, so he handed the top rank to Beyoncé with her newly released track “Break My Soul” from the upcoming album Renaissance.
He included a bunch of artists, including Harry Styles with “Music For a Sushi Restaurant,” Bad Bunny with “Ojitos Lindos” featuring Bomba Estéreo, Kendrick Lamar with “Die Hard,” and Wet Leg with “Angelica.”
Obama’s podcast (Renegades: Born in the USA) collaborator Bruce Springsteen also ranked this year with “Dancing in the Dark.” And as we have expected, the list came with a few golden oldies such as Aretha Franklin with “Save Me” and Al Green with “I Can’t Get Next to You.”
“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies,” Obama said on Twitter. “It’s an example of how music really can bring us all together.”
Obama also revealed his summer reading list for this year, and it’s as eclectic a collection of books you’ll find. Emily St. John Mandel’s Sea of Tranquility and Jennifer Egan’s The Candy House were included in the roster, as well as Charmaine Wilkerson’s Black Cake and Lan Samantha Chang’s The Family Chao.
