Beyoncé has finally returned.
Queen B has just announced her much anticipated new album, Renaissance. This will be released on July 29th, according to a product listing on the queen’s website that popped up on Wednesday and appears labeled “Act I.”
Streaming services quickly noticed Beyoncé’s new social media bio, which includes the album title and date.
With no specific details given, this is only in line with her trademark mysterious release techniques. But an unverified tweet from a tireless fan account Beyonce Legion hints that there might be 16 songs on the album.
After the announcement, British Vogue’s Edward Enninful said he heard the album in person: “Instantly, a wall of sounds hits me,” he said.
“Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine, and in a split second, I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core. Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.”
In addition to the CD, T-shirt and collectible box sets, the Renaissance box set listing will also contain an exclusive 28-page booklet and mini-poster, while the product image will update once the campaign artwork is disclosed.
On Wednesday, following Beyoncé’s profile picture change – it went black, fans quickly pointed out that a graphic post on Twitter from her nonprofit, Beygood, cryptically indicated upcoming music.
Merely one square displayed unexplained music in a montage of album covers: a red hand with gloves, pointing to the album cover to the left – Brandy’s B7. So now we know that B7, Beyoncé’s seventh album, is Renaissance.
