It sounds like Robert Pattinson may have to take a step back because Christian Bale could be coming back as Bruce Wayne if a particular thing summons his bat signal.
The newest Marvel franchise member has not completely concluded his ties to the DC universe after all. Bale, who makes a debut in the MCU in Thor: Love and Thunder, is OK with returning to his role as Batman on a condition: It must be at the behest of director Christopher Nolan.
After starring in the Dark Knight trilogy (2005-2012), Bale would be game for anything related to the franchise if Nolan still had a story to tell.
“I had a pact with Chris Nolan,” Bale said in an interview with Screenrant.
“We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”

Affleck returned for 2017’s Justice League prior to Matt Reeves’ The Batman with Pattinson, which was released earlier this year.
Bale recently confirmed he has yet to see how Pattinson performed as the character despite hearing “wonderful things.”
“I still haven’t seen it. I will see it,” Bale said in an interview with Variety at the Thor: Love and Thunder premiere in Hollywood last week.
“Listen, mate, it’s amazing how few films I see. Every director I work with, I’ve seen a couple of their films, and they’re always looking at me, going, ‘Are you kidding?’ I like to really savor films I don’t watch too many. But I will, I certainly will. Robert is an absolutely wonderful actor. We bumped into each other, talked a little bit about it ahead of time, and I heard wonderful things.”
