Emilia Clarke felt like she wasn’t getting ready for her acting on Broadway.
The actress who plays Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones was unhappy with her performance. She called it a “catastrophic failure.”
“It was just not ready,” the 35-year-old actress said in an interview with the BBC.
“Was I ready? No, I was definitely not ready,” she stated. “I was a baby. I was so young and so inexperienced.”
Clarke took on the role of Holly Golightly, famously played by Audrey Hepburn and her tiny black dress in Richard Greenberg’s stage version. She starred opposite Cory Michael Smith as Fred in this production while Vito Vincent played Cat.

EW’s Thom Geier in 2013 gave a C+ review for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, stating that “too many scenes that just sit there, failing to delight and robbing the play of any semblance of narrative momentum.”
He pointed out that her acting was strong rather than carefree (but he complimented Clarke on how she looked in costume).
Compared to her massive television fan base, Clarke says she is “petrified” about performing on stage in America for the first time.
“I’m profoundly aware of the fact that there will be people who love Game of Thrones and are seeing it for that,” she stated.
“Hopefully, they’ll come and go, ‘We just came to see the Mother of Dragons, oh how frustrating, she’s not on a dragon, this isn’t what I paid for.’ Spoiler: I’m not on a dragon at any point during this play.”
Clarke is featured as Nina in the play by Anton Chekhov, with Tom Rhys Harries as Trigorin.
The Seagull debuts on June 29 at the Harold Pinter Theater in London and will run until September 10.
