Netflix has released a sneak peek at Jenna Ortega, who will appear in the upcoming Addams Family series Wednesday.

Co-creators Al Gough and Miles Millar say Wednesday looks forward to telling a never-before-seen part of the Addams Family tale, leaping to Wednesday’s teenage years.

“In every previous iteration, Wednesday has been younger,” stated Al Gough in an interview with EW. “We loved the idea of aging her up to 15.”

Directed and executively produced by Time Burton, the series is described as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery,” with Wednesday exploring life at Nevermore Academy.

The series description says: “Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

“We’ve never seen her as a teenage girl,” said Ortega in an interview with EW.

“You know, it’s funny and sweet and almost charming to hear this eight-year-old’s obsession with murder and blood and guts. As she gets older, that nasty attitude or [those] biting remarks, it’s almost kind of hard to not make it sound like every other teenage girl. So, it’s like, how do we establish this character and give her the same fire without letting her become something that she’s not?”

The new series will be a great addition to your Netflix queue. The show also features actors such as Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Christina Ricci in a mysterious role.

Ricci is famous for portraying Wednesday in the movie The Addams Family in 1991 and Addams Family Values in 1993.

The spotlight is now on Ortega, and she knows that there are many milestones ahead that she needs to achieve.

“I’ve never had the opportunity to play an iconic character before,” said Ortega. “I know she’s well-loved and well-respected, and I just don’t want to mess her up.” Wednesday is expected to be released on Netflix this year.
