Deadline reports that Migos’ Quavo is set to star in a new action thriller movie from Quality Films and Trioscope titled Takeover, directed by Greg Jonkajtys and screenplay by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive) and Brandon Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter).
Quavo will play Guy Miller, a parolee trying to get his life back on track, but he somehow ends up back in Atlanta’s dangerous street racing scene. The production will use live-action performances and animation to capture the stunts, sideshows, and tricks that define that corner of car culture.
Quavo has previously starred in series like Atlanta, Black-ish, and Narcos: Mexico. He is also set to star in Randall Emmett’s forthcoming film Wash Me in the River.
“I’m really excited for this opportunity, especially shooting in my hometown of Atlanta,” Quavo said in a statement. “This film is an ideal opportunity to further delve into my craft, and I can’t wait to see how the action plays out in this animated environment.”
Quavo’s debut solo album and most recent record, Quavo Huncho, came out in 2018. He recently released the new song “Shooters Inside My Crib,” featured on tracks by Bobby Shmurda and Pop Smoke, and played at the 2022 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
