In a new Netflix Thriller titled The Gray Man, Chris Evans dubs Ryan Gosling a Ken doll, which he means as an insult.
While that’s ironic coming from someone who’s literally a human action figure, Gosling, who portrays the famous boy toy in the latest Barbie film, states that it’s “not an insult at all.”
“I’m proud of that,” Gosling said in an interview with ET Online. “I have that Ken-ergy, which he could feel, obviously, when he commented to it. I still feel like the Ken-ergy is alive.”
The Ken-ergy is not just alive; it looks at you with those plastic eyes very well.
But besides being the most fantastic kind of innuendo – cheap – what really is a “Ken-ergy”? Gosling created it, so one can assume he is the best person to define it.
Queried about the Ken-ergy term, Gosling says, “You know what I mean… no?”

“You’ve got a Ken in your life,” he added. “And you know that that Ken has… Ken-ergy.”
Gosling then explained what a Ken is… which sounds exceptionally like a scrub: “Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff.”
Though Gosling hasn’t given us the most accurate description of Ken-ergy, can he perhaps reveal something about Barbie? No other further details have been disclosed. However, Margot Robbie says anything we think is not it.
“Whatever Barbie says is exactly right,” Gosling confirmed Robbie’s statement. “It’s not what you think it is unless it is. And then you know what it is, but I don’t think that’s what you think it is. Wait, what are we talking about?”
Perhaps that’s what Ken-ergy is! Complete agreement with Barbie, in addition to a sense of hazy confusion about what’s happening while being the hot dude he is. Oftentimes, action speaks louder than words.
Barbie drops on July 21, and then we’ll find out what it is that Barbie isn’t.
