Taylor Swift left at least two fans flabbergasted after sending them $ 3,000 each to help pay for their coronavirus struggles.
Samantha Jacobson is a longtime fan and Swift cocktail waitress at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, who lost her source of income for at least 30 days after her third-party bar closed due to the coronavirus.
On Tuesday, she wrote on Tumblr: “I wish so much to be able to donate to the link Taylor provided [to the charity Feeding America] but because of COVID-19 my job, my only source of income, is closed for at least 30 days. I have no job, no income, no way to pay the bills. If someone happens to donate and is committed to it, everything is helping with the bills right now. “
Then this happened Wednesday:
Paige said she has been a fan of the pop superstar since 2006 and has been in contact with her before, as she was “one of the lucky fans” invited to two previous album listening events. This tweet pinned to the top of her page probably didn’t hurt either:
Another fan, Holly Turner, music photographer and graphic designer from New York, also tweeted that she received $3,000 from Swift on Wednesday:
Turner told E! Online: “I saw that she had just started following me on Tumblr, so I was hoping and yelling about it, then saw the main post on Tumblr was about having a hard time financially, and I didn’t think she could follow me because of that.’ Then I started freaking out even more … I wouldn’t be able to stay in my apartment after May if it wasn’t for this … I worked my whole life to be able to live in New York, and I thought that was going to be taken, and she saved that for me. So, I am just so, so, so grateful.”
Taylor Swift is committed to helping fans in need amidst the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday (March 31), several Swifties told social media that the superstar had personally sent them incentive checks to help them through the crisis.
“Erin, I saw your tweets about the financial and emotional stress you are going through right now, and it made me want to help you. I am so sorry for your work and for the uncertainty of what is happening right now. I hope this $ 3000 donation helps you. I loved meeting you in New York, and I hope you are safe and sound! Your pal, Taylor”, Swift wrote in a private note to one fan, who tweeted, “Literally, how is this an actual thing that has happened??? I will shut up never I’m so grateful for this woman.”
The superstar has also donated money to Nashville’s Grimey’s New and Preloved Music record store to pay for and provide health care for each retailer’s employees over the next three months starting April 1.
“We were astonished, and I would have to say amazed, that Taylor Swift reached out to us through her publicist to offer some relief during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Grimey’s co-owner Doyle Davis told Rolling Stone. “I didn’t even know we were on her radar, but she really took a step to help after the recent tornadoes that hit Nashville and central Tennessee, and now she’s trying to help a much-loved small business in her city.
“Taylor generously offered some direct relief to my staff and to cover three months of our health care costs for our group-insurance plan,” he continued. “It’s a huge deal to us, and now I have some peace of mind as we apply for [Small Business Association] loans to pay rent, vendors, and other expenses. This assistance from Ms. Swift helps give us a real shot at coming back on the other side of this.”
The generosity follows Swift’s justification after the full version of her 2016 calling video featuring Kayne West leaked, which showed she was accurate about their controversial conversation. Swift said on Instagram that the recording proved “that I was telling the truth all the time about * that call * (you know, the one that was illegally recorded that somebody edited, and manipulated to frame me and put me, my family, and fans through hell for four years)…” She also noted that instead of focusing on the celebrity infighting, fans should instead pay attention to “what matters” – that link to charities.
