When Twinkle Zaman started writing to relieve some tension and built-up emotions within her, producing a book at the end of it all was the furthest thought from her mind. And yet, the book Love Notes – Single Hearts Affairs, a collection of poems that tell a narrative of self-discovery, falling in love, and faith, has since come out and has become a work of art by those who already have the book in their personal collection.
During the writing process, Twinkle shared the challenges she faced in dealing with the dark places of her mind and the self-reflections she has had to embark on.
“The self-reflection part is always interesting,” she said. “Sometimes you do question your sanity…maybe I am crazy? I think for years, I’ve played tug of war, trying to find my voice and speaking from my heart. As a little girl, I always envisioned the older me; now the older me is someone so different from who I thought I’d be.”
With Love Notes – Single Hearts Affairs, Twinkle hopes to reach those who feel broken and shine a light their way. Written from a perspective of a young woman still trying to find her own way in the world, she shares that while aspects of who she is will inevitably change with time, the core message and the heart of the book remain the same – the journey of navigating womanhood and finding the love that is right for you. Love Notes – Single Hearts Affairs reflects her struggles and weaknesses, finding her strength, and learning her heart. “If someone finds comfort in that, then that makes me happy,” she said.
While the book itself is a collection of poems and stories, Twinkle splits Love Notes – Single Hearts Affairs into three sections, with each focusing on a different aspect of growth and love. The first section is titled ‘Woman With,’ followed by ‘Chasing Love,’ and lastly, ‘Finding God.’ The sections, she revealed, were inspired by her daydreams about what love looks like to her in a perfect world. A romantic at heart, Twinkle observed the dating scene around her and women of her age. With the current romantic landscape dotted with dating apps, casual affairs, and bars as venues for first dates, Twinkle still believes in the magic of a more old-school approach to love and relationships and reflects this desire for her perfect love in her book, which readers of similar outlooks can identify with. “There’s just a lot I think that someone who has a longing like me would enjoy and not feel so isolated in this world,” she said.
Twinkle hopes that Love Notes – Single Hearts Affairs strikes a chord with readers who are in similar positions in life as her at present and that they find hope and inspiration in the pages where she bravely bares her soul.
“We fall in love with books, music, and movies because I think we are all escaping through those things ’cause we don’t have them in reality,” she reflected.
