Quickly Rising

The Thunderbolts movie will be directed by Paper Towns’ Jake Schreier and written by Black Widow’s Eric Pearson. The film concludes Marvel’s Phase 5 with his July 26, 2024 release date.

The Thunderbolts, a group of reformed supervillains, first appeared in Marvel comics in 1997. They are known for taking on dangerous missions for the government, similar to the Suicide Squad.

Deadline first reported that rising star Edebiri has joined the cast. Edebiri became a breakout star for her portrayal in The Bear, and has been nominated for several awards including the Critics’ Choice Awards, Gotham Independent Film Awards, and Independent Spirit Awards.

She has also lent her voice to Netflix’s animated comedy Big Mouth and written for What We Do in the Shadows. Edebiri recently starred in the Sundance comedy Theater Camp, which is set to premiere later this year.

Fans are excited to see how Edebiri will bring her unique talents to the Thunderbolts film, and what kind of dynamic the ragtag group of characters will have on the big screen.

With Schreier and Pearson at the helm, and Edebiri in the cast, the Thunderbolts movie is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Movie: Thunderbolts

Created by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley, the team was originally formed as a ruse by villain Baron Zemo to infiltrate and sabotage the Avengers.

However, the team eventually becomes a legitimate force for good, taking on dangerous missions for the government and working to redeem themselves for their past crimes.

The team has seen a number of line-up changes over the years, with notable members including Hawkeye, Deadpool, and Venom. The team’s leader, Baron Zemo, is also a key member and serves as the team’s moral compass.

The Thunderbolts have had several series and tie-ins over the years, and are known for tackling darker, more mature themes compared to other Marvel comics. The team’s focus on redemption and second chances has resonated with fans and has resulted in a dedicated following.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting a Thunderbolts adaptation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it was recently announced that a film is in the works with Paper Towns director Jake Schreier at the helm and Black Widow writer Eric Pearson writing the script.
