Now a fast-rising lyrical genius climbing the ladder in an upward motion, Kick 5000 had a difficult childhood. Born in 1983 in Bronx, New York, Kick 5000 and his family migrated to Miami, Florida. At the tender age of two, his father died, marking the beginning of a series of unfortunate events for the family. As if one tragedy was not enough to rock the family, his older brother turned to a short life of crime, and by the time Kick 5000 was 13, his brother was imprisoned for life. The cascade of the event continued as he also lost his mother when he turned 15.
With no immediate family to take the orphans into custody, he and his other siblings went into state custody. The harrowing experience significantly colored his life view, and he turned to the only thing he knew – music to express his feelings and frustrations. The moment he discovered his musical prowess proved to be the first light at the end of a very dark and long tunnel, and so he pursued it with all of his heart.
He started making music with four of his friends, composing lyrics and music that acclaimed his ability as a lyrical genius. Along with his friend, he established an independent record label, Goonsville Entertainment, making music spawned from pain and passion. In addition to making music, the multi-dimensional artist also channels his talents into drawing, painting, and designing custom-made pieces in his leisure.
