This Women’s History Month, the spotlight shines on Tootsie The Rapper, a California hip-hop artist whose authenticity and sharp lyricism are making waves across the music industry. Since her 2017 debut with “Swerve (Stay In Yo Lane),” Tootsie has built a career rooted in unapologetic self-expression. From national TV placements to international recognition, she continues to carve out her path while inspiring other women to pursue their dreams with confidence. With her 2026 single “SEE ME,” Tootsie delivers a powerful anthem about standing in one’s truth, proving that persistence, purpose, and passion can turn ambition into lasting impact.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we want to take a moment to acknowledge how inspiring it is to see you continue to pursue your dreams and walk confidently in your purpose. What does being recognized during this time mean to you as a woman in hip-hop?
Tootsie The Rapper: It means a lot to me because it shows that the work, the faith, and the perseverance don’t go unnoticed. Being recognized during Women’s History Month reminds me that I’m part of a bigger legacy of strong women who kept going even when the odds weren’t in their favor.

As a woman in hip-hop, it means standing in my truth, owning my voice, and showing that you can be both strong and positive while still being respected in this space. I hope when other women see me, they see someone who didn’t give up and understand that their dreams are valid too.
For me, it’s not just recognition, it’s responsibility. It pushes me to keep growing, keep inspiring, and keep showing up as the best version of myself, not just as an artist, but as a woman.
Your 2026 single “SEE ME” carries a powerful message about refusing to be overlooked. Can you share what inspired the record and what that moment of reflection looked like for you creatively?
Tootsie The Rapper: Well, it was written during a period of reflection. The record is about refusing to allow doubt, criticism, or outside perception to dim my purpose. “SEE ME” stands as both a declaration of identity and an anthem for anyone who has ever been underestimated yet refused to remain unseen. Driven by integrity, resilience, and a relentless commitment to self-expression, the song really represents my choice to stand fully in who I am and trust my journey, no matter who is watching or not.
In 2025, you collaborated with Jon Connor and Nikell Johnson on “Are You Down” from the Twin Flames EP. How did that collaboration come together, and what did you enjoy most about working on that project?
Tootsie The Rapper: Jon and I both agreed to work on a project, and it came together naturally. I feel like we were creatively aligned, and we both respect each other’s craft so much that it just made sense. I really enjoyed the authenticity of the process. We didn’t overthink anything; we just let everything flow naturally.
We also weren’t afraid to share our artistry with one another. Everything was very open, honest, and creative. That’s what made the experience special.
Your music has reached wider audiences through placements on television shows like All American, The Impact Atlanta, and Caught in the Act: Unfaithful. What was your reaction the first time you saw your music come to life on screen?
Tootsie The Rapper: My reaction was honestly just joy. It always feels like an award when I hear music on TV. At the same time, it motivates me to keep going because it shows me I’m capable of so much more. Moments like that remind me that all the hard work is leading somewhere bigger.
You recently performed at the International Women’s Day Ballin’ For Peace event at the Intuit Dome, which sounds like a powerful full-circle moment considering your earlier support of the organization. What did that experience mean to you personally and professionally?
Tootsie The Rapper: It was such an honor to perform. It really was a full-circle moment that felt aligned. Dr. Ryan Hicks and Ballin For Peace have supported me over the years, so when I was asked to perform at halftime, I was more than happy to do so, especially for such an amazing cause.

Ballin For Peace and I share the same foundation in positivity, unity, and inspiring people, so it just felt natural. Personally, it meant a lot because it showed the power of genuine relationships. Professionally, it reminded me that staying consistent and true to your message always comes back around.
You’re currently working on new music alongside Smitti Boi and longtime collaborator Cam The Feature. What can fans expect from these upcoming projects, and how have these collaborations influenced your sound?
Tootsie The Rapper: Fans can expect a new sound and a new vibe. Working with Smitti Boi has definitely helped develop a sound that feels more tailored to who I am as an artist right now. It’s really about leveling up and giving the fans something fresh while still keeping my message.
Working with Cam The Feature is always natural because we already have that creative understanding, so these projects really show growth, elevation, and another layer of who I am musically.
As your career continues to grow and more people discover your voice, what message do you hope listeners take away from your music and the story you’re telling through your journey?
Tootsie The Rapper: My message will always be about having a positive outlook, no matter what you go through. I want my music to draw people in and hopefully make them feel joy, hope, or even just peace. I want people to feel like they can breathe when they hear my music.
My journey and my purpose are to be a light in a world that can sometimes feel dark. If people can listen to my story and feel inspired to keep going, then I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.
