The music industry consists of a colorful roster with many talented individuals coming from all walks of life, making it one of the most challenging industries. Competition can be fierce and even more so for the disabled who dream of pursuing a music career. Andre Yarbrough, best known by his stage name Mu Diamonds, is a paraplegic who understands the struggle of making it in the music world. So he has taken it upon himself to forge his own path and lay the groundwork for others like him through his label, Dynesty Entertainment.
Andre Yarbrough is a native of Buffalo, New York. The city has held a reputation as one of the most dangerous cities in New York, with crime going rampant in the streets. Andre had been minding his own business when a vehicle drove by, and someone shot him twice. Rushed to the hospital, he discovered that he was paralyzed from the waist down, pushing him farther from his dreams and forcing him to change his lifestyle. The incident forced Andre to endure six months in the hospital to recover.
As Andre got himself accustomed to life in a wheelchair, he expected his friends would visit to see his progress, but no one came to check on him. Distraught and abandoned, Andre had no choice but to carry on as the people he once trusted turned their backs on him. Once he adjusted to life in a wheelchair, Andre would again find himself in trouble for a parole violation. Finally, he wound up in prison.
Most people in his position would have yielded to depression after facing so many hardships, but Andre Yarbrough held a brave front and decided to make the most of what he had. During his time in prison, he developed a hobby of reading books as there was little that he could do. Flipping through hundreds of pages, Andre found himself getting inspired. He picked up a pen and started writing, showing signs of his lyrical talent. The more Andre wrote, the farther his problems were. It did not take long for him to decide that he wanted to build a career in music.
Taking the stage name Mu Diamonds, Andre set out to start a new life. Although his disability put him at a disadvantage, Mu persevered, determined to become the first paraplegic artist in the music industry. He decided to take further steps by creating his own label called Dynesty Entertainment in 2013, welcoming talents from different walks of life to join his brand and help them pursue their dreams in music.
“Dynesty Entertainment is a family-oriented home,” Mu Diamonds explained, “We are looking for all types of talent—old, new, fresh, and alive. If you have what it takes to be a star, then we want you.”
On July 1, he is releasing his long-awaited mixtape SD2RELOADED: Still Dunkin 2, which is the sequel to his first project seven years ago. In Still Dunkin 2, he projects his respects to the late great slain artist Mario Hamilton a.k.a. Slim Dunkin. The project will be hosted by superstar DJ Trapaholics, the originator of the phrase “Damn, son, where’d you find this one?” It will be released only on LiveMixtapes With twenty hot records and just a few feats, this has classic writing all over it.
Operating for eight years now, Mu Diamonds and Dynesty Entertainment have established their place in the hip-hop world. The endeavors that he had to overcome were some of the most challenging things anyone would endure, but the rising artist marched on as he was determined to inspire others like him. “It’s not about how you are. It’s who you are that matters,” shared Mu, “Even if you’re disabled, you can do whatever you put your mind to.”
