Alla Arutyunyan: The Dark Melody of Love and Sorrow in the Midst of Perpetual Chaos

By: Jonathan James

Alla Arutyunyan is a musician known for her haunting and emotionally evocative compositions that often explore the depths of human experience. In this exclusive interview, she opens up about her journey, the inspiration behind her music, and the underlying mission that drives her work.

The Journey Begins

Interviewer: Alla, your music is deeply personal and carries a powerful message. Can you tell us about your early life and how it shaped your artistry?

Alla Arutyunyan: It is not entirely personal. I’m more focused on what takes place in a world that sometimes moves in the direction of potential collapse, only to find itself in a place of perpetual chaos. It is difficult to watch, and I can’t stand to witness this suffering without drawing attention to it. It is the least I can do. And as I try to act from a place of personal truth, I would primarily focus on things that truly matter to me. Human suffering and our potential obligation to God to address this senseless misery are the things I choose to talk about in my work.

Interviewer: Was there a specific moment when you realized that music was your calling?

Alla Arutyunyan: I discovered purpose in writing music when I saw what it could do for others. It’s bittersweet to know that many of my listeners find solace in my music while fighting for their lives, whether through battling thoughts of suicide or facing other kinds of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It breaks my heart, but it also gives me the strength to keep going.

Music as a Mission

Interviewer: Your music often explores themes of resilience, faith, and confronting uncomfortable truths. What drives you to focus on these subjects?

Alla Arutyunyan: I recognize how much influence it might have on those who observe what I do. And that’s what I aim to pursue with my work. I hope everyone can find the strength to face darkness and confront their pain. I see this as a form of real freedom. God may have intended us to live and not fear. We might find that freedom only when we abandon fear and surrender to the unknown. It is what I deeply desire for others to experience.

Interviewer: Many of your compositions address injustice and the human condition. What role do you believe artists should play in today’s world?

Alla Arutyunyan: I feel it is part of the innate purpose of our work as artists—reflecting upon the things beyond our control and understanding. We might consider offering perspectives that lead to truth, no matter how painful or obscure. It takes courage to seek this truth in the world we live in today, but what else holds meaning?

Faith and Creativity

Interviewer: Faith plays a significant role in your work. How has your spirituality influenced your music?

Alla Arutyunyan: I owe everything to God, as I wasn’t placed on the musical path until much later in life. It feels as if I was given a chance to bring light into this world through this music, and I couldn’t dismiss it. It is sacred to me. It almost feels mystical. And I’m fairly certain it must be, as I have no logical understanding of what is happening. It is strange and somewhat terrifying, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Interviewer: Do you feel that music has the power to heal spiritual wounds?

Alla Arutyunyan: It can do so. Music often derives from a place of divinity. It’s an expression of love God may have chosen to bestow upon us. That love is real, and its power can feel infinite.

Looking Ahead

Interviewer: What can we expect from you in the near future? Are there any new projects or collaborations in the works?

Alla Arutyunyan: I do this alone. It is me and the music. Now, I’m in the process of writing my seventh record. At some point, I intend to go on a tour and take this across the ocean.

Interviewer: Finally, what message do you have for those who connect with your music?

Alla Arutyunyan: Don’t let your suffering stop your heart from loving.

Alla Arutyunyan’s music is more than just a melody—it is a call toward truth, courage, and transformation. As she continues on this path, it seems likely that her voice will not be silenced, no matter the cost. And as long as such struggles persist, she will keep striving for peace that feels stolen from us by the forces opposing God.
