BaShir Hogue on Rising through the Music Industry

Music in the twenty-first century is bigger than talent and the mere ability to project one’s voice and make sweet melodies. Music nowadays is the deliberate attempt not just to create melodic tunes but also to position oneself strategically so that when the reward comes, one reaps the benefits. Therefore, when BaShir Hogue decided to go to college to earn a degree in Business Management, it wasn’t just the certificate that propelled him. It was a unique opportunity for him to learn and apply the knowledge in building his brand.

BaShir Hogue is a two-time Gospel Image Award winner, singer, songwriter and record producer. His musical journey began in Philadelphia at the age of five on the Open Door Baptist Church’s choir. With his versatile and soulful voice, BaShir became a lead singer and praise and worship leader at Deliverance Evangelistic Church. By the time he was ten, he had started performing professionally and has worked with many famous Gospel Recording Artists during his career.

BaShir recorded his first album, Everyday, in 2002 on LGR Records. His album was highlighted in London Music Live and sold out the first week on multiple digital platforms and in record stores everywhere.

In 2005, BaShir recorded his long-awaited second debut album, Patience, live at Bethel Deliverance International Church. The album was later studio-produced by G.O. The Producers and released in 2014.

In 2015, BaShir became the host of his television talk show, The Culture, on the Catch the Fire Network. BaShir has interviewed many well-known artists, Grammy and Emmy Award winners, entrepreneurs, and CEOs.

BaShir is now preparing for the new release of his third project, Love Factor: Songs of Solomon Modern Days. In anticipation of his new project, BaShir released his latest single, “Love U Back,” on June 26, 2020. The latest has been a hit with listeners all over.

When asked what separates him from other artists, BaShir said, “I was born BaShir Hogue, and they weren’t. However, we all share music as a universal language, and I’m sure these other artists dreamed big, like me, wrote songs, like me. But I’ve been told that I have a unique sound. So that can be a separation. But we all are a product of music.”

Some of BaShir’s accomplishments include two Gospel Image Awards, sharing the stage at various times with award-winning gospel artists such as Kim Burrell, Maurette Brown Clark, Rev. Daryl Coley, and Tia Pittman, to mention a few. He has also performed in famous venues like the Apollo Theater and at notable events like the National Convention for President Bill Clinton in Cleveland, Ohio, writing for Kelly Price and performing with her during the Philadelphia Unity Day Gospel Event.

In five years, BaShir sees himself winning the Grammys for his songwriting ability and his efforts as a song producer. “That’s part of my goal,” he said. “I am interested in sharing a worldwide variety of musical styles all with a life-changing lyrical message of praise and worship, hope and love through Jesus Christ.”

Away from music, BaShir wrote and directed his hit play called The Return and was cast in the screenplay First Lady Drama and Is There a Man in the House 2012, which was directed by Charles Miller.Learn more about BaShir Hogue by visiting his website
