Kimberly Cole’s New Single “BLOODY MARY”: A Fierce Anthem of Truth and Self-Love

By: Sarah Morton

Kimberly Cole is back and coming in hot with her latest single, BLOODY MARY, which dropped on October 16th. This song isn’t just another catchy track—it’s a full-on anthem of vulnerability and self-love. Known for her high-energy pop hits, Kimberly Cole is taking a different direction this time, serving up a raw and emotional masterpiece that blends dark pop vibes with gritty hip-hop beats. It’s not just music—it’s a moment of deep reckoning.

At the core of BLOODY MARY is Kimberly’s commitment to keeping it real, not just with her fans, but with herself. “This song is a confession to myself—a wake-up call to finally be honest with who I am,” she said in a recent Q&A. And that’s exactly what this track is about owning the parts of ourselves we try to hide, even from ourselves. Kimberly isn’t afraid to confront the truth and invites us all to do the same through her music.

If you’ve been following Kimberly since her Billboard-charting hit Smack You, you’re in for a different vibe. While Smack You was a total bop, it was also influenced by the pressures of the music industry. “I was so heavily concerned with pleasing A&Rs that my creativity was dimmed by sonic culture trends,” she admits. But with BLOODY MARY, Kimberly is stepping into her most authentic self. “Now I just write like a human. And then I sing it. And hope that someone resonates with my humanity.”

Working with longtime collaborator and producer Jeeve Ducornet, her ex-husband Kimberly created this track in her Universal City, Los Angeles home studio. Yep, they recorded it in a bright loft overlooking the 101 freeway while sipping—you guessed it—Bloody Marys. “It was fun but also intense. Many ‘demons’ were released that day,” she revealed. The chemistry between Kimberly and Jeeve is undeniable, and their years of working together (and, let’s be real, going through some stuff) add an extra emotional punch to the song.

“Jeeve has been instrumental in shaping my sound,” she explains. “We can read each other’s creative minds and have sonically grown together. He’s also my ex-husband. We still create together. Keeps things interesting (and emotional), to say the least.” If that’s not the ultimate creative partnership, we don’t know what is.

But Kimberly didn’t just stop working with Jeeve. She also teamed up with co-writer Goldie, a collaborator she’s been vibing with on a deep artistic level. “The song is a beautiful collaboration between me and one of my favorite collaborators, Goldie,” she shared. And there’s more to come from this dream team. Kimberly teased that they’ve got more music that dives even deeper into her soul. “We have more music coming soon that hits the depth and the frequency of what I feel my soul authentically needs to say.”

BLOODY MARY isn’t just a one-off single either. It’s a preview of what’s next for Kimberly as she steps into a more honest and raw phase of her career. “It’s definitely a sonic example of what’s to come,” she says. Kimberly is no stranger to personal challenges—she’s been through a divorce, the loss of a parent, and the lies we all tell ourselves to get by. But this new chapter in her music is all about cutting through the noise and getting to the heart of things.

The lyrics of BLOODY MARY hit hard, packed with drama, pain, and realness. “I could write three memoirs on why I wrote this song,” Kimberly jokes, but it’s clear this track represents a major turning point for her. “The song represents a confession to myself. A come-to-Jesus, a wake-up call, a surrender, the start of finally being honest with myself. The start of acceptance.” It’s Kimberly’s way of saying, “I’m done pretending.”

But here’s the thing: Kimberly isn’t just releasing this record without any fear. She’s scared, but that’s exactly why it matters. “I’m afraid to release this record but the difference now is that I’m brave enough to be afraid,” she admits. “I want listeners to be brave with me. I want to continue to do the things that scare me and inspire others to do the same.”

So, what does BLOODY MARY mean for the fans? It’s more than just a song you add to your playlist; it’s a whole mood. Kimberly wants listeners to feel seen and understood through her music. “I want listeners to hear the lyrics and put themselves in the same story. Because we all have the same one,” she says. It’s about shedding the mask we all wear, even when it’s tough, and learning to embrace the messiness of being human.

With BLOODY MARY, Kimberly Cole is reminding us that vulnerability isn’t a weakness—it’s a strength. And in a world where everyone is constantly trying to look perfect, this track is a breath of fresh air. Kimberly’s message is clear: be real, be raw, and be brave enough to show your true self.

If you haven’t heard BLOODY MARY yet, you’re seriously missing out. Stream it now and get ready to feel all the feels. Kimberly Cole is back, and she’s bringing the truth with her.
