Double J Releases Inspiring Mixtape to Create Awareness About Autism

Promising music artist Double J recently released his mixtape titled My Biggest Confession as his way of creating awareness about people living with autism. As a thriving music artist who also has autism, he believes that it is important for people like him to also be represented in an industry that prides itself in embracing diversity. By sharing his music with the rest of the world, Double J is making a bold and inspiring message that he hopes will inspire other people living with autism to step out of their comfort zones, dream big, and make things happen.

Born Joseph Jamal, Double J was diagnosed with autism when he was six years old. Over the years, the Alpharetta, Georgia native has proven that it is possible for someone like him to live an extraordinary life with determination and a positive outlook in life. He is also concrete proof that a person with autism can dream of being anyone they want to be and work hard to see that dream come to fruition.

“I have faced much ableism throughout my life, and I wanted to inspire many people with my life story to give hope to many as I was diagnosed with autism when I was six years old. I wanted to show that if you have determination and a positive mind, you can overcome any obstacles in life no matter how tragic the circumstances are,” Double J shared.

His recently released mixtape is the first-ever solely dedicated to autism. His mixtape includes the songs “My Biggest Confession,” “Multiracial with Autism,” “1 N 68,” “Curious Man,” and “The Man You Want.” Double J poured out his talents and energy into creating this project which he hopes will spark inspiration among others.

“I feel it is time for the community of autism to be represented in the news because many people have not looked at my kind in a positive way. I want to show the world that we are just as capable as everybody else, even though we have a hard time expressing ourselves. We are not stupid; we’re different. I express myself in different ways, and so do many other people within my community. I hope I can inspire millions of people with my music, and it would mean the world to me if my kind was treated better,” Double J added.

The 17-year-old was inspired to come up with a mixtape after realizing that people with autism need him to be a voice in their advocacy and unique journey. Not a lot of people understand what it is like for someone with autism to go about day-to-day routines. Through his songs, Double J hopes to be a light that will cast out all doubts and misconceptions about autism. Additionally, he was also inspired by Atlanta-based rapper Money Mu to continue making music after their brief interaction in the airport. Money Mu encouraged him to continue to follow his dreams and just ignore the haters. Upon hearing his music, Money Mu was impressed with his song and told him to keep moving forward.

In the next few years, the young music artist hopes to be recognized as the powerful voice in the music industry that speaks for people living with autism. He hopes to inspire people from different parts of the world through his story and show them that autism need not be considered a disability. Instead, he hopes for people to simply see it as a unique way of living life to the fullest.
