Joshua Tovar, widely recognized by his stage name JoshuaLife, is an artist, singer, songwriter, and producer taking the Latin Urban music scene by storm. With his latest single, “HOCO en la U,” making a splash on the Spotify charts in Dallas—making a powerful debut in the lead position and maintaining a strong hold in second place the following week—JoshuaLife is now preparing to release his debut EP. HOCO en la U EP features four tracks and showcases his unique sound, blending reggaeton, trap, and Colombian influences.
JoshuaLife’s journey into the music industry began out of necessity. “I originally wanted to become a singer but couldn’t afford to hire a songwriter, producer, or even a beatmaker,” he recalls. This challenge became the driving force behind his decision to learn music production and songwriting. Over time, JoshuaLife built a career working for other artists, crafting beats, writing songs, and managing promotional services. His hard work and dedication behind the scenes helped him develop a reputation as a well-rounded professional in the music industry. Now, seven years later, JoshuaLife is finally stepping into the spotlight with his own music.
HOCO en la U, the EP, will include the chart-topping single of the same name, along with three additional tracks: Miami, Virtuosa, and Reloj. This four-song project, set to release soon, will be a sonic experience for fans, with JoshuaLife’s signature guitar work weaving each track together through melodic intros and outros. The project reflects the creative mind behind the music, as JoshuaLife himself produced the EP, mixing with Miguelon and mastering by Ricardo Sangiao.
Despite his rising success, Joshua Tovar hasn’t had an easy road to get here. “Proper success in the music industry requires a balance of connections, knowledge, skills, and capital,” he explains. Early on, he lacked the financial resources to collaborate with top-tier producers, which led him to take matters into his own hands. One of the defining aspects of his Latin Urban music is his guitar, an instrument he’s played since the age of seven. It became the hallmark of his instrumentals, establishing JoshuaLife as a producer with a unique sound that sets him apart in the crowded world of Latin Urban music.
But JoshuaLife’s music is more than just beats and melodies—it’s infused with a purpose. His company, Life’s Bread Music LLC, was founded to restore the identity of youth, respect for women, and the presence of Jesus in Latin Urban music. “My faith is what distinguishes me,” JoshuaLife emphasizes, “and I want to create a movement that impacts not just my community but the culture as a whole.” His dedication to faith, family, and culture, combined with his unique Colombian heritage, shines through in every aspect of his music.
As Joshua Tovar looks ahead, his vision for the future is clear. Within the next few years, he aims to not only be a trendsetter in Latin Urban music but also inspire change across multiple genres. His debut EP HOCO en la U is just the beginning, and with a growing fan base and recognition for his work, there’s no doubt that JoshuaLife is on a path to leave a lasting impact on the music industry.
