Kate Bush is thrilled that one of her old songs has been “given a whole new lease of life.”
The singer’s song “Running Up That Hill” was played in the most recent season of the Netflix series Stranger Things, now on its fourth installment. She posted about it on her site on Monday.
“You might’ve heard that the first part of the fantastic, gripping new series of ‘Stranger Things’ has recently been released on Netflix,” the 63-year-old singer wrote.
“It features the song, ‘Running Up That Hill,’ which is being given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show – I love it too!” she added. “Because of this, ‘Running Up That Hill’ is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8. It’s all really exciting!”
The song was first released in the 1985 album Hounds of Love. It reached number one on iTunes after the release of Stranger Things season 4, part 1.
“Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song,” Bush continued. “I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July.”
Since the show’s season one, it has used songs from the late 1900s and early 2000s era such as “Can’t Seem to Make You Mine,” “Never Ending Story,” “There’s Frost on the Moon,” and many more.
Stranger Things also features Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Natalie Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington).
