Artists like Macntaj aren’t strangers to challenges. But despite all that artists like the Seattle-based rapper and songwriter have been through, they find ways to overcome and come out of trials stronger than before. And so goes the tale of the artist who is now starting to solidify his place in the hip-hop scene with killer track after killer track coming out from his corner regularly.
From the times he spent growing up, Macntaj’s life wasn’t easy. He split time between his divorced parents’ homes and got into trouble regularly at an early age. Then, in his teens, the artist started getting involved in gang cultures and would get mixed with the wrong crowds. He grew up in the Garden Bloc, admittedly not one of the best environments, but Macntaj found ways to make the best out of his situation.
One element that stayed constant in his uncertain life was music. Relationships and brotherhoods would come and go, but his love for music stayed and grew stronger with every passing year. His talent was unmistakable from the start. And in 2016, he got a chance to prove that after he was given a chance to come out on Bassnectar’s hit track “Level Up,” part of the record Unlimited. Later, he would get a chance to perform on the producer and artist’s 2017 studio album, Reflective, playing a part in creating and bringing to life the song “Infrared.”
After those two successful hits, Macntaj paired up with producer Levitate and artists like Raz Simone and Gunplay to create an EP entitled Omni, which would come out in 2017. Following their first standalone release, Macntaj flew to India and went on an extensive music tour. After his return to the studio in October 2018, he came up with his first single, “Live Enough,” which made headlines and infiltrated radio waves all over the nation and many parts of the world. Macntaj followed that up by releasing a mixtape called “Trappy Gilmore” in February 2019 and followed it up with an encore in July 2019.
Afterwards, Macntaj released another single and music video, “Love Me The Same,” which would surpass the numbers and success of his previous tracks, proving to naysayers that he was an artist who was here to stay. The hip-hop star has recently penned a deal with Bloc Star Evolution, a major label created by Sacramento-based rap icon X-Raided.
When speaking about his tenacity through the turmoil, Macntaj doesn’t mince words. “I always believed in myself, always believed my brand offered something different,” the artist says. “Everything I put in my music is from my life and nobody else’s. The good, the bad, and the ugly.”Macntaj guarantees more top-tier tracks with the golden opportunity to take his music to the next level with Bloc Star Evolution to fast track his road to rap stardom.
