If you’ve ever fallen for someone way too quickly, had a terrible day that somehow became a funny story, or overthought every text you’ve ever sent, Lilly Hartle’s debut EP, Lovesick Logic, will probably feel a little too relatable.
The Nashville-born, Charleston-based singer-songwriter has spent the last few years carving out her own lane, blending indie pop, pop punk, and alt-rock into songs packed with personality. There’s a nostalgic edge to her music that brings back the best parts of early 2000s pop, but it never feels like she’s looking backwards. Instead, Lovesick Logic sounds fresh, fun and completely her own.
Opening with “Boy Brain,” Lilly wastes no time introducing the playful, tongue-in-cheek writing that’s become one of her biggest strengths. It’s catchy, confident and impossible not to sing along to. “Leave Me Lonely” takes things in a different direction, showing there’s plenty of emotion beneath the attitude, while “Biannual Hypocrite” rounds out the project with the same sharp storytelling that runs through the entire EP.
One of the standout moments is “Perfect Day,” and ironically, it’s anything but. Turning frustration, burnout and one bad day after another into an upbeat anthem shouldn’t work this well, but Lilly somehow makes it feel effortless. It’s the kind of song that reminds you it’s okay to laugh through the chaos, and it’s no surprise it’s become one of the biggest fan favourites from the project.
Then there’s “Bitch For Romance,” arguably the EP’s most addictive moment. Built around Lilly’s habit of falling head over heels whenever someone catches her eye, it’s energetic, sassy and completely self-aware. Rather than pretending she’s got it all figured out, she leans into the messiness of romance, creating a song that’s perfect for blasting with your friends before a night out or screaming in the car with the windows down. It’s playful without feeling forced and captures the excitement of a brand new crush perfectly.
What makes Lovesick Logic work so well is how genuine it feels. Lilly never overcomplicates things. She writes about the moments everyone experiences but rarely says out loud, wrapping them in huge choruses, infectious melodies and just the right amount of attitude.
With standout singles already building momentum and a live reputation that’s growing just as quickly, Lovesick Logic feels like the start of something exciting. Lilly Hartle has found the sweet spot between vulnerability and confidence, and this EP proves she’s an artist worth keeping on your playlist long after the first listen.
