Denzell Terrell is an artist who likes to bring everything in his arsenal to fuel the R&B genre to new heights.
A Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Denzell Terrell grew up under the guidance of his grandmother following his mother’s brutal murder. The event separated him from his siblings, and Denzell would have fallen into depression had not music been there for him. Amid all the challenges that came his way, music was Denzell’s salvation. He would then discover his musical ability while exercising it in the church until he was ready to take his talent to the next level.
“I knew I wanted to be a musician because I liked the way music made me feel,” he explained. “I l wanted to share that amplified feeling with others.
As a teenager, Denzell learned to play the keyboard at age 13, when he performed with a local quartet group called The Hard-Hitting Manigault Specials who were trailblazers in the local quartet circuit. It opened up doors for Denzell to travel and showcase the gift that was instilled in him.. He would later win various talent competitions and eventually get featured on the Patriot-News, Harrisburg’s local newspaper. However, Denzell’s most significant accomplishment as a teen was performing for the then-mayor, Stephen Reed, twice. The performance was broadcasted on WHBGTV to around 75k viewers state wide.
Since then, Denzell Terrell continued to polish his overall brand, making sure he was not just a voice but a well-rounded performer and musician. He learned to become an instrumentalist, producer, sound engineer, and songwriter. Denzell has polished himself in each specialty to ensure that he fits his definition of a musician.
As an artist, his sound gives listeners a blend of R&B and soul covered with racy lyrics and elevated with gospel-tinged vocals. Denzell’s music is a testimony of being in love, falling in love, heartbreak, and relationships. He strives to bring love and passion back into the R&B genre.
Denzell is currently working as an independent artist. Back in 2011 he got a taste of vitality by using a ringtone platform to generate 100k ringtone downloads doing popular cover songs. Denzell’s lead single off his debut EP “Keys to Ya Heart” on Spotify, generated more than 15,000 streams. On YouTube, the song is accompanied by a scenic music video in LA, attracting attention from all over the music video programming spectrum.
As the song continues to generate more attention from the internet, Denzell has been working hard to develop his self-produced visual album Pursuit to Prevail, which is set for release this year. Denzell plans to launch his debut project February 2022 later, and it will consist of five original songs in five different cities that take from relatable experiences in life.
With his career on the right path, Denzell Terrell is optimistic about etching his name among the greats in the music industry, and he hopes to continue reaching out to other people with his unique sound.
