Within the melodic realm where rich vocals meet soulful songwriting, new masterpieces are born. Robert Abernathy, known for his baritone timbre and compelling storytelling in song, has gifted us a captivating holiday melody in the form of “Christmas Eve Alone.” Collaborating with Marissa Luna, whose heavenly vocals provide an enchanting counterpart, the pair weaves a Christmas story steeped in emotion and filled with beautiful harmonies that leave listeners absolutely spellbound.

Conceived as a fresh take on traditional holiday stories, “Christmas Eve Alone” tells a poignant tale from an unexpected point of view, that of Santa Claus. In a surprising twist to the often jolly tales of Saint Nick’s Christmas Eve journey, the song delves into the hardships experienced by Santa’s beloved Mrs. Claus, who is left to spend the joyous night alone. This intriguing concept was suggested by Paul Cofer, and as Abernathy explains, aimed to shed light on the untold stories of the festive season.

Abernathy comments, “Paul Cofer brought me the basic concept behind this song. There are many traditional Christmas songs, but we wanted to present a narrative that had never been told. What if the tale revolved around Christmas Eve and all that Santa hypothetically experiences without his one true love, Mrs. Claus. Santa shares joy and happiness worldwide, while she is solitary at home.”

For Marissa, home and family around the holidays means the world which is why the song is fitting. “I am a fun person. I come from a family that loves to have fun and have a good time.” The song brings light to the fact that not every one gets to experience this dynamic, so with her pageantry and community service background, Luna understands this.

Not merely an inventive shift in perspective on a familiar Christmas narrative, “Christmas Eve Alone” also mirrors comparable scenarios faced by many individuals around the world. Amidst the festivities and family gatherings, the reality is that not everyone shares an idyllic celebration scenario. Abernathy says, “I am certain that many people can relate to this fictional concept. How often do people across the U.S. and other countries that rejoice in Christmas find themselves in similar detached situations?”

“Christmas Eve to me”, Abernathy continues, “has always been centered around family and the holiday spirit. Regrettably, that’s not always the case in every household.” Through their exquisite harmonies and lyricism, Abernathy and Luna join forces to

remind us of the full range of emotions the holiday season can bring, crafting a message of empathy and community in a time that is typically filled with joy and well-being.

Invite this new holiday melody onto your festive playlists and let Abernathy’s soulful tones and Luna’s angelic voice provide a comforting soundtrack to this year’s celebrations – no matter how they look. While the story behind the song may be thought-provoking, the spirit of Christmas remains intact, reminding us all to appreciate the warmth, love, and joy of the season – even in solitude.
