Visual Artist King Strives to Emphasize the Importance of Celebrating Individuality

Despite the lessening of monarchies over the decades, people have still been bestowing titles like “King” and “Queen” to exceptional individuals in their respective crafts or careers. Looking to utilize the title in their craft, King has been making the rounds in the art community with their unique, cosmic paintings.

Although King is commonly used by males, the visual artist wanted to use their name to make a statement and challenge the status quo by taking a male dominated title and changing the concept for everyone to see. “King was a concept I created to empower individuals, especially women, to take control of their lives,” they revealed. “It also challenges the social norms when it comes to what’s considered masculine or feminine.”

An Ethical Visionary Artist, King resides in South Florida where they have been breathing life into their visions and dreams through art. King’s journey into painting was inspired by the vivid dreams of what they now call, Souls. “Painting Souls became, like, my niche almost. I was this emerging artist talking about painting the essence of Humans. It kind of just stuck. There was one figure in particular that didn’t seem to want to go anywhere, so I decided to paint them to better understand what was going on. Later on I felt like what I was painting was actually the true essence of people. Hence why I call them Souls.”

King’s exploration led them to experience a journey of self-love and enlightenment again and again. The artist decided to create their first serious body of work titled “Transcendence.” The series consists of seven pieces that take the audience on a back-and-forth journey of birth, self-discovery, and spiritual growth.

“It took me a year and a half to complete, and I am happy to be able to say I did it,” King shared. “Finishing that series definitely taught me a lot about myself during the process, and it forced me to become a better storyteller and artist. It also opened doors for me that felt impossible at the time.”

Each piece was an experiment that tested the artist’s skills and conceptualization. The artist holds no regrets. “It taught me to push boundaries, try things that scare me, and not to quit,” they explained.

King also uses their platform and abilities to emphasize the importance of celebrating body positivity, individuality, and self growth. “Even though we’re the same energy on the inside, it’s important to celebrate our physical diversities. It’s what makes us all beautiful,” King elaborated.

King is known for using more unisex figures in their work, as it represents the masculine and feminine energies and attributes present in everyone. “Everyone possesses both energies in some way, and we have to understand that in order to be in a healthy, balanced relationship with ourselves.”

With their platform growing, King encourages people to support local artists like themself and spread the word that it’s never too late to hop on the journey to enlightenment and love. “It’s so important that we learn to uplift ourselves and each other instead of allowing society to decide which direction we go,” they emphasized. “Our happiness and satisfaction with life is only attainable when we prioritize our well-being, and learn to empathize with others .”
