Your Queens Inc. Showcases the Rich and Colorful Culture of African Royalty Through Different Art Forms

From their awe-inspiring conduct to their colorful royal wardrobe, remarkable life story, and exceptional beauty, the stories of the historic queens of Africa deserve to be retold over and over again. Your Queens Inc., the first registered African royalty character company depicting the stories of non-fictional African Kings and Queens, is paying homage to the lives the African Royals lived through storytelling, singing, and dancing. Armed with the mission to educate the younger generation of the rich and dynamic lineage of African men and women around the world, the company hopes to bridge the gap that divides many races today.

Your Queens Inc. brings to life the incomparable Queen Nefertiti, Queen Cleopatra, Queen Makes of Sheba, Ethiopia, Queen Amina of Zaria, Nigeria, and the goddess Isis, by showcasing the stunning costumes that not only educate the present generation but entertain them as well. The company was founded by Ekiuwa Asemota, a thriving dancer, teacher, designer, and entrepreneur. She was inspired by her inner desire to teach people to appreciate the unmatched African culture, diversity, dynamism, and vibrant colors and sounds.

For the past six years, Your Queens has extended its cultural services to over 300 organizations across the country, from public schools to counseling centers, special events, colleges, and art and music festivals, to mention a few. Their mission to reach as many people as possible through their advocacy has generated a lot of support from the media, who believe in their initiative’s value. Your Queens has been featured in Essence, Elle Magazine, Rolling Out Magazine, Esquire Magazine, Stellar Magazine, Thrive Magazine, Hot 97, CBSN, several television channels in Nigeria, and even podcasts.

Each queen is proudly being depicted by women of color who support the vision of Asemota. Each woman is in character every time they wear their colorful costumes and start sharing their dynamic history. They have allowed their audiences to travel through their performances and experience a little bit of Congo, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Egypt, among others. Their cause has brought immeasurable joy to audiences and has strengthened the self-esteem and confidence of countless people of color.

Through Your Queens, Asemota hopes to break the never-ending cycle of injustice, violence, racism, depression, doubt, and fear among African-Americans. Using the arts to bridge a widening divide between races contributes greatly to creating awareness, educating people, and empowering them to make wise choices where it concerns their personal opinion on pressing matters involving racial discrimination. In their little way, the queens make a bold statement that promotes love, unity, and respect for everyone.

Asemota and her queens believe that they have started an unstoppable and life-changing advocacy that will impact many generations to come. More than just entertaining people and making them happy, the queens are determined to continue to promote African culture long-term and see a better future for many people of color.
