Product and UX Designer Yuehui Du: Designing with Intuition, Emotion, and Immersion

For Yuehui Du, design is more than solving problems or improving interfaces. It’s about creating experiences that resonate—experiences that feel human, poetic, and emotionally grounded. Working at the intersection of XR, AI, and interaction design, Yuehui brings a rare sensitivity to how we shape technology—and how technology, in turn, shapes us. Her approach is one that values connection, intuition, and understanding of human needs.

Her journey began not in software, but in space. With a background in architecture, Yuehui learned how physical environments influence human behavior. That spatial awareness became a foundation for her design career and led naturally into the realm of extended reality. During her time at Rokid, she designed core system interactions for AR glasses like Rokid Air and Rokid Glasses 2, helping bring clarity and usability to spatial computing for both everyday and industrial contexts. Later, at Samsung Research America, she contributed to Project Moohan, a next-generation XR initiative in collaboration with Google. There, she helped define system-level logic and multimodal interactions for immersive operating systems, work that pushed the boundaries of how people might interact with digital content in physical space. Her work has consistently demonstrated her ability to blend the artistic with the functional, making her designs stand out in the field.

But for Yuehui, XR isn’t just a tool—it’s a storytelling medium. What excites her is not the spectacle, but the subtle: the rhythm of an experience, the quiet moments where emotion surfaces. In her immersive work, she treats interaction like a conversation, paying attention to silence, tension, and flow. The goal is not necessarily to impress, but to invite—to give users space to breathe, reflect, and feel. She believes that the true power of design lies in its ability to evoke a deep emotional response, creating moments that resonate with users long after their interaction.

This sense of care is what guides her across mediums. Her shift from spatial computing to healthcare and wellness design wasn’t a detour, but a deepening of purpose. At Erbal, a wellness e-commerce startup, she led the design of an AI-powered herbal shopping experience, helping users explore personalized remedies based on their health goals. Her work combined UX, branding, and narrative into a cohesive journey, earning recognition across international design awards and showing how technology can gently support everyday self-care. Her designs have had a significant impact on users’ ability to connect with their wellness goals in a more personalized and mindful way.

Now, as the founding UX designer at a healthtech startup, Yuehui is shaping an AI-driven care platform that helps users navigate their health with clarity and confidence. Rather than chasing features or trends, her focus is on emotional resonance—creating systems that feel not only usable but comforting, empowering, and human. Her ambition is to shift the narrative in tech: from speed and scale to sensitivity and care. This emphasis on emotional connection is what sets her apart in an industry often dominated by functionality over feeling.

Alongside product design, Yuehui continues to explore immersive storytelling through collaboration. In Narcissus Bug, a recent interactive AR artwork created with artist Curaxuan, she brought interaction design into the realm of myth, identity, and perception. The project was selected for the ICIDS 2025 Art Exhibition in Malta, and reflects her belief that XR has the potential to be a space not just for innovation, but for ritual, memory, and transformation.

Across her work, whether building XR interaction models, healthcare tools, museum experiences, or participatory art, Yuehui Du centers the human. She designs not only with intelligence, but with presence. In a field often focused on what’s next, she gently reminds us to ask: what really matters?
