Jacqueline Gladness, a Memphis native, has always been driven by a passion for breaking down cultural barriers and empowering individuals through mentorship, leadership, and her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. With an impressive background in youth development, program coordination, and the arts, Jacqueline’s journey is a testament to the impact one person can make in fostering change and community growth.
A Multifaceted Leader
Jacqueline’s story begins in Memphis, where her roots in music and education were cultivated. A graduate of Visible Music College with a degree in Music Business and Media Tech Institute with a degree in Audio Production, Jacqueline seamlessly blends creativity and strategy in her professional pursuits.
Her early career took her around the country, including a successful tour as an actress in Love Jones the Musical. Yet, Jacqueline’s heart remained committed to giving back, leading her to roles in youth development across Texas, Georgia, and California. Her initiatives included planting churches, establishing music schools, and creating mentoring programs that left lasting impacts on countless communities.
In late 2023, Jacqueline returned to Memphis to take on the role of Youth Program Coordinator at New Ballet, where she oversees student governance, mentoring programs, and academic support. Her dedication to youth leadership development aligns with her overarching mission to equip young people with the skills they need to thrive.
Additionally, Jacqueline now serves as the Vice President of BDPA (Black Data Processing Associates) Memphis, an organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of Black professionals in technology and innovation. In her role, she’s helping organize the second BDPA Memphis Regional Conference, set to take place June 6–7, 2025. With registration opening in February at bdpamemphis.org, the event promises to be a significant milestone for fostering tech innovation and mentorship within the community.
Faith and Purpose in Action
Jacqueline’s life mission is deeply rooted in her faith. As a Christian vocalist, she seeks to inspire others through music, uplifting her audience with messages of hope and love. Her YouTube channel, @jacquelinegladness2604, features faith-based content, where viewers can find inspiration and encouragement.
“Breaking down cultural barriers starts with listening to the culture,” Jacqueline shares. This philosophy guides her efforts to create inclusive environments where people from all backgrounds can thrive.
Opportunities for Engagement
Jacqueline’s work at New Ballet and BDPA Memphis highlights the importance of community involvement. At New Ballet, she’s actively seeking mentors for their students, aged 8 and up. These mentors don’t need dance experience, just a willingness to guide and inspire the next generation. To learn more, visit newballet.org.
For those in the tech industry or with an interest in supporting Black professionals, the upcoming BDPA Memphis Regional Conference offers an excellent opportunity to network and contribute to the future of technology and innovation.
A Voice of Change
Jacqueline’s expertise in program development makes her a sought-after leader for startups and organizations looking to establish impactful initiatives. Her ability to develop and execute successful programs stems from her 13 years of experience working directly with youth and community-focused projects.
Whether she’s mentoring students, speaking at conferences, or performing as a Christian vocalist, Jacqueline’s influence is felt far and wide. Her work is a beacon of hope for Memphis, a city she’s dedicated to revitalizing through service and faith.
Looking Ahead
Jacqueline’s plans for the future are as ambitious as her past accomplishments. In addition to her work at BDPA Memphis and New Ballet, she’s preparing to release more Christian content on her social media platforms, offering fresh perspectives on faith and culture.
