Vera Melnik is a permanent makeup artist with nearly a decade of experience, recognized on the international stage. Her works are renowned for their natural look and aesthetic appeal, attracting clients from all over the world — from the USA to Bermuda. Vera has won numerous competitions, been a speaker at major events, and, starting in 2024, began sharing her expertise through advanced training courses.
Tell us, how did you start your journey in permanent makeup?
In 2015, I attended my first training, which marked the beginning of my journey into the field of permanent makeup. I decided to pursue this path professionally and started building my practice. Over time, I developed a consistent schedule, working with multiple clients each week, and continually focused on improving and refining my skills.
How has your work changed after moving to America?
The move brought its challenges, but I remained dedicated to my work. I now see clients from various places, including New York, New Jersey, Florida, and even international locations like Russia, Belarus, and Bermuda. I aim to provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for everyone I work with.
What achievements in your career do you consider the most significant?
Among my accolades:
- Achieved recognition at the International Convention of PMU in Minsk in 2016.
- Recognized for her work in the “Permanent Makeup + Microblading” category at the International Assembly in Moscow in 2018.
- Achieved recognition in the “Eyeliner Shading” category at the US PMU Championship WULOP 2023 in Miami.
I was also invited as a speaker at the BELARUS PMU Champion Wulop 2024 and the US PMU Champion Wulop 2024, where I shared my expertise in creating colored shadows and soft gradients.
You recently started teaching. What inspired you to create your courses?
I’ve always had a passion for sharing my knowledge, and this year felt like the right time to begin. I introduced my first advanced training course in September 2024, focusing on techniques to help professionals enhance their skills in creating natural, aesthetic beauty.
What approach do you consider key in your work?
My principle is individuality. Every person is unique, and it is the artist’s job to highlight their natural beauty, not to change their facial features. This requires not just technique but also artistic vision.
Which services are most in demand among your clients?
The leading techniques are those for eyebrows, such as powder brows and micro shading. Natural lip tattooing and the shadow effect for eyelids are also popular. Clients often come for corrections of asymmetry or color restoration.
What is the primary goal of permanent makeup?
To support individuals in enhancing their confidence, permanent makeup offers a way to simplify beauty routines and address specific aesthetic preferences, helping people achieve a polished look with minimal reliance on cosmetics.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to continue growing in my profession, sharing knowledge, and inspiring others. My immediate plans include hosting new masterclasses and participating in international events.
