Interview with Extraordinary Young Artist and Cross-Cultural Curator Rain(Yuhou).Lin

By: Ellison Blake

“Listen to Hongxian Nv – Art Exhibition” was launched in Macau, China, in April of this year. After its opening in Guangzhou’s YongQingFang in 2022, it garnered much love and recognition from the audience. This time, the exhibition has been adjusted and upgraded, bringing it to the historic streets of Macau, a beloved area for young people. Through modern art forms combined with technology, visitors can experience the legendary artistic journey of the master artist Hongxian Nv, deepening the communication and understanding of traditional Chinese drama among the younger generation.

As the main person in charge of the creative team for this exhibition, Rain(Yuhou).Lin, a cross-disciplinary curator, has been active in the field of cross-cultural creation. Contrasting with the artistic expression styles of young artists, Rain.Lin excels in the application of light and shadow visual technology. He has been involved in the production of cases such as the Maritime Theatre, Digital Mobile Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Space, Parking Lot Museum, and Aerial Cantonese Opera Cinema, promoting the implementation of cross-border conceptualization of traditional culture.

Ellison Blake: The theme of this exhibition leans towards modernization. What was the inspiration behind it?

Rain(Yuhou).Lin: The main color scheme chosen for the exhibition’s visual design is magenta, one of the most popular colors globally in recent years. We applied a modern and minimalist font style combined with the traditional musical notation elements of the Gongche music scale. We extracted concrete sound wave graphics from the theme music works to form a modern design theme that retains traditional information while being sensorially rich. It’s worth mentioning that the design of the exhibition won an outstanding award in the Chinese Cultural and Museum Poster selection competition after its first exhibition.

Ellison Blake: The exhibition applies quite modern and technological presentation methods. Could you elaborate?

Rain(yuhou).Lin: This exhibition mainly employs the artistic expression technique of parallel contrast. It explores the same themes from different eras on the timeline and depicts the different spaces of the same character’s stage performance and real-life portrayal. Immersive three-dimensional light and shadow equipment recreate the sights and feelings experienced by the two roles of Wang Zhaojun on their theatrical journeys, allowing the audience to engage in deeper exchanges with the exhibition and thus develop a multidimensional understanding of traditional drama.

Ellison Blake: I think your establishment of Cross-Cantonese Culture as a cultural platform for inheriting intangible cultural heritage is very meaningful. You are adept at innovating traditional cultural content and dissemination methods with an international perspective, building a bridge for communication and cooperation between traditional Chinese culture and contemporary culture. What are your plans for the future?

Rain(Yuhou).Lin: In recent years, I have been using modern forms of expression and fashionable language to spread traditional Eastern culture and create more innovative and creative exhibitions. Just like last year’s Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Digital Exhibition at Milan Design Week, this year’s planned touring exhibitions will be held in places like Paris, France. I want to continue exploring and learning more and hope to bring traditional Chinese culture to more countries and regions around the world.

The Artistic Journey of Elaine Robeson Malco

The hustle of today’s world has left everyone with no clue about entertainment. Back when the world lacked technology and advancements, people were fond of visiting art galleries as art is considered a source of refreshment for the mind.

Artists refer to paintings as a way to express emotions, ideas, and creativity. Painters possess the ability to reshape any object into something so beautiful that people would automatically find themselves attracted to it. The world of art is all about sculptures, paintings, sceneries, and nature.

Painting is a creative display of objects on a piece of paper, while sculpture is a part of visual arts that can be seen in three dimensions. Being a sculptor requires an exceptional vision. Many artists prefer to use clay, wood, plaster, or stone to carve these three-dimensional art objects. Art lovers admire the work of sculptors exceptionally.

As the world modernized, the art of sculptors is now no longer restricted by traditional sculptural concepts, methods of production, and materials. It no longer remains static and can also be kinetic and capable of movement. It can also be projected, assembled, or constructed in a wide variety of ways rather than just being carved. Thus, the art industry has witnessed a great revolution in the past few years.

Elaine Robeson Malco, a painter, sculptor, and art teacher, has proved that the art industry is definitely in its most advanced era. The great mind was born on June 2, 1916, in California. Her efforts for art have enabled her to encourage many women to pursue Arts as a field.

Malco graduated from the Otis Art Institute in 1938, where she studied under several masters of art like Donna Schuster, Paul Connor, Paul Lauritz, Henry Richter, and Ralph Holmes. Her passion for art began at a very early stage of her life. Anna Hills and Paul Lauritz have always been her huge inspirations and role models. She wanted her work to become exemplary in the art world. Even after graduating from Otis Art Institute, she continued taking classes from Henry Richter, Paul Connor, and Paul Lauritz for many years. Her sculpting skills got refined over these years, and her work received a Freddy award for best Sculpting.

Once she realized that men have dominated the industry to which she devoted all her efforts, she tried her best to encourage women to pursue this career. In 1954, Malco was successful enough that she founded the Long Beach California National League of America Pen Women.

Later, she became the art chairman of the Pacific Coast Club from 1956 to 1971, where she exhibited great pieces of her inspiring art. She enjoyed learning new and unique styles of painting, and she traveled to different countries to learn their ways of painting and art. In a show called Shadow Mountain Club, she displayed her beautiful art piece made in the Sumi painting style, which she learned during her trip to Japan.

Malco’s love for art has made her win awards for her services, like Ronzone Medal and CAC Gold Medal. She was also featured in the book Who’s Who because of her Art achievements. The end of her journey was on March 28, 1985. But her impeccable values are still admired by many artists and art lovers.

Multifaceted Artist Rachel RaQuel Uses Her Voice to be a Force of Good

Many factors drive people towards the summits of success. In the case of Rachel RaQuel, with her desire to catalyze change and impact the lives of many, she has empowered her to climb the pinnacles of greatness with grace. As she transcends the music industry with a visionary purpose, she aims to send powerful messages across the world in order to serve as the people’s beacon of hope.

Rachel RaQuel is an emerging artist fueled by her passion for using her influence for the greater good. Unlike many artists who use music as their channels for expression or money-making pursuits, this self-starter pushes the envelope to stand as a guiding force. Music is a highly diverse platform, and she will continue to use it to transform her purpose-driven vision into action.

Rachel RacQuel made her start working alongside notable personalities in the industry, including the late Jeff Jamison, the founder of the National United Affiliated Beverage Association and the sole creator of the only approved Martin Luther King Flag by Corretta Scott King, and the late Rachel Williams, owner of Unison TV Kids and retired Wardrobe Director for Elton John.

Today, Rachel RaQuel has been performing at different shows and events. As a matter of fact, she has been working alongside notable personalities in the industry. She also recently performed at the 10th Annual Soirée in the Cities, curated by Ebony Edwards and hosted by the legendary DJAKTIVE. The event was a pop-up tour that created shopping parties for women-led brands.

Rachel RaQuel also performed at Tisa Rose’s Pretty Petals Botanical Experience, a therapeutic and healing event to reimagine the simplistic joys of life through making floral arrangements, and at Drew Vision & Baseline.HQ’s The Brooklyn Music Kitchen with her accompanying duo Shannon Woodall.

One event in particular that stood out for Rachel was The Holiday Concert @ LOVE PARK in Philadelphia, where she partnered with Dr. C Nichole of CN Productions, The Philly Clean Scene, German American Marketing, The City of Philadelphia, The Office of Councilman David Oh, Remnant Entertainment TV and The Jewish Community of Philadelphia (Chabod of Fairmount & Chabod of Center City) to embark on the city’s biggest family-friendly, all-inclusive holiday celebration.

The City of Brotherly Love’s German-style outdoor market has brought in many locals and tourists together, boasting a plethora of colors year after year in its widely known Christmas Village. As the event was a stark reflection of the rising star’s vision, Rachel brought out her distinctive flair and demanded the stage as per the norm, where she once again had fans saying her name.

When asked what separated her from her competition, Rachel RaQuel shared that she wanted to be an artist who helps and motivates others. In a world where industries foster a competitive atmosphere, this multifaceted artist aims to lift others up and help them navigate through difficult times. It is a challenging path to take, but Rachel is determined to be a force of good.

Hailing from the country’s first World Heritage City, Philadelphia, Rachel RaQuel has always had an unparalleled passion for music. She started singing at four years old and practically grew up performing before an audience. From stage plays to TV commercials and game shows, Rachel was a versatile personality gifted with talents in acting, dancing, and even stand-up comedy.

Without a doubt, this multifaceted performer was born to be on stage. However, Rachel RaQuel’s successes were hard-won. She underwent several losses throughout her career and even came close to losing her mother. Nonetheless, Rachel continued to persevere. “After all those experiences, I have come out of them with a different outlook on life. Because of everything I lost, I became even more determined to pursue my passion and follow my dreams. I am glad I now have the confidence to make music and perform my full-time career,” the artist shared.

With no intentions of slowing down any time soon, Rachel RaQuel aims to expand her horizons in order to stand as a source of inspiration to aspiring hopefuls from around the world. In the years to come, she hopes to see more artists fueled not only by passion but also by purpose.

Why Rising Music Artist Sofia Ford is One of the Most Promising Names of Her Generation

Countless individuals have tried their luck in building a career in the music industry, but not all of them succeeded in reaching the pinnacle. Many fail because it takes more than just talent to navigate the rough jungle that is the music scene. To survive the landscape, one must be creative, dedicated, committed, and willing to do whatever it takes to rise above the other dreamers. With thousands of competitions, it truly is not a journey for the faint of heart. But despite the odds, Sofia Ford’s passion and dream to be the best in the music scene never faltered. Today, she stands as one of her generation’s most promising rising stars and is building a name for herself strong enough to stand for years to come as a music icon.

Sofia is a multi-faceted visionary. She nails everything from songwriting and playing various musical instruments to producing her own music. The 19-year-old artist from South London is creating waves in the alternative rock scene fueled by her passion for 90s rock music. She has always been inspired by the music of Oasis and the Stone Roses, bands that molded her to be the artist she is today.

Putting her own spin on alternative rock, Sofia thrills her listeners with melodic bass lines and raging electric guitars merged with catchy hooks. Sofia is unafraid of expressing herself and her artistry through her music, and because of her rawness and authenticity, she has generated a growing fanbase and community formed by people across the globe.

Asked where her journey began, Sofia shared that she first learned how to play the guitar at the age of seven when their family lived in Geneva. Her father played a significant role in her music taste growing up, recalling that they would listen to all kinds of music whenever and wherever they could, singing melodies and harmonies together. A year after she learned to play the guitar, she began writing her own songs. From there, the artist performed at every opportunity she could find–open mic nights, performing with local bands, and appearing at local festivals.

When her family moved back to London in 2010, songwriting gave her comfort and allowed her to navigate her feelings and emotions. From all her performances since age seven, Sofia has encountered many opportunities that have led her to bigger stages. While not all of her open doors brought her to the milestones she was hoping to accomplish, some of them leaving her with disappointment, she learned from each of them and became stronger.

Determined to rise, she strived harder after every disappointment to produce her own music and play all the necessary instruments to achieve her unique sound. A self-taught artist, she amazed the world when she released her latest track, “Big Deal.”

Sofia dreams of not only pursuing her innate talent and passion for music but creating a lasting change in the music industry by bringing a fresh perspective to alternative rock. She aims to empower people with her music and produce songs that people can relate to.

On top of pursuing her music career, Sofia is also studying at the Brit School in Croydon, pursuing a Music Business Degree focusing on the legal and professional side of the music landscape.

Singer-Songwriter Michael Q Trucks Talks Military Service and Aspirations as an Independent Artist

Music exists not only to serve as background noise to people’s most mundane of moments and as a soundtrack to their most memorable ones. For many artists, music is a medium they can use to express themselves, their beginnings, and the hopes they want to see come to fruition. Michael Q Trucks, a Michigan native who is making bold moves in the worlds of music and entertainment, is wielding the power of this age-old craft to share pieces of his light and dark experiences. Currently serving in the U.S. military, the songwriter and actor are aiming for the stars.

Born and raised in The Great Lakes State, Michael has always had an affinity for music. His earliest memories include dancing and listening to songs by Otis Redding, Frankie Lymon, The Temptations, and Prince, the last of whom he continues to consider one of his greatest influences. So, it was no surprise that he would ultimately set his eyes on establishing a name in the music industry.

Michael explored different interests in high school, joining the band Now or Never as a drummer and participating in dance competitions. At 14, the creative go-getter would start writing, singing, rapping, and creating his own tracks, with his very first recorded song done inside a closet.

Years down the road, Michael is now pursuing his love for music by pouring his experiences – the good and the bad – into tracks that perfectly demonstrate his distinctive style and brand of artistry. Following his enlistment into the Navy in 2015, he began using music to tell stories from his travels around the world. Among various other themes, the singer-songwriter has touched on the importance of accepting whatever life has to offer and moving forward amid the odds.

In the time since he first dipped his toes in the music scene, Michael has managed to distinguish himself from a plethora of artists, thanks to his exposure to different cultures and refusal to be boxed in within the walls of a single genre. 2018 witnessed the release of his first three singles as an independent artist, Q The Music. “Stay,” “Lost,” and “No Love” introduced the songwriter to listeners worldwide and showcased his potential and wide array of talents.

In 2019, Michael then dropped an EP that included the standout track “Mine.” The following year, he expanded his discography by releasing “Empty,” “Enough,” and “Lust & Pain.” Soon afterward, he would impress listeners with the single “Pray for Me.”

Highly cognizant of the need for artists to always be on their toes and reinvent themselves in the face of the cut-throat nature of the music industry, Michael rebranded to “Michael Q Trucks” in April 2022. This move showed that he was more than ready to reach greater heights.

In the years to come, Michael aims to carve a path toward the summit and prove that independent artists have a shot at success despite being at a disadvantage. He also hopes to shed light on a broad spectrum of human experiences through his songs.

Tex Moonlight Entertaining the World with His Unique Fusion of Americana and Electronica Music

Being a pioneer in any field takes some daring disposition and a strong sense of self-belief. Tex Moonlight, a musician from Baltimore, has created his unique sound and style of music, and he’s set to build himself into a household name that everyone can recognize and identify with.

Tex Moonlight’s “Americonica” is a fusion of Americana and Electronica music. The Baltimore-born and bred musician who now lives in Los Angeles drew inspiration for his sound from his background and upbringing. He grew up in a place where the eclectic sound was dominant and underground Hip-hop heads and punk/hardcore community thrived. It was a scene that had the blue-collar population as the drivers of the music dominating the airwaves, and Tex Moonlight found himself getting sucked into those blends of sounds that filled his streets and neighborhood. As a result, he got immersed in the combination of roots music and modern production, leading him to create his unique “Americonica” sound, the foundation of his music career today.

Describing “Americonica,” Tex Moonlight said, “It features experimentation of my fusion of Neo-folk and futuristic postmodern Blues. It is a sound that falls somewhere between Glen Campbell and Beck. I have perfected this sound over the years, and nothing turns me on quite like getting a whacked-out break beat looped under pedal steel.”

For the earliest parts of his career,  Tex Moonlight learned the ropes by fronting various acts along the New York City and Washington D.C. corridors. It took him a while to fully embrace his self-created style and sound, but when he did, he was unstoppable. He created his first project, Moonshot, which he released in 2020, working with producer and engineering guru Dave Nachodsky (Keb Mo’, Donna Lewis) in Baltimore. His days working on the album at the Invisible Sound Studios played a significant role in shaping his career and the type of artist he is.

Tex Moonlight’s raw style and exploratory thematic qualities have shone through in his music. It’s why songs like “Smoke Signals” and “God Knows I Love It” captured many ears and hearts. In the latter, he talks about his strong commitment to dealing with his insecurities publicly and examining his mortality through a kaleidoscopic of departed loved ones’ memories. “Nostalgia can linger like… But I don’t feel haunted… These days I’m swimming in gratitude,” he goes on the track. Tex Moonlight’s fearless sonic qualities are evident in his soundscapes, and he never fails to show them off in his projects or music releases.

Music by Tex Moonlight is available on Spotify, and presently, he’s working on new music, which he hopes to share with the world soon. His goal for the next few years is to make “Americonica” a staple style that everyone enjoys while witnessing other budding musicians adopt the style in their music. “I’ll love to see it grow and blossom beyond me. These fusions make music beautiful, and the world deserves to enjoy the beauties we are capable of creating. Americonica is here to stay,” he said.

Alexander Yearns Inspires Growth Through His Journey to the Summits of Success in Music

Growth in the music industry is something worthwhile to achieve. However, the increasing competitiveness in an industry that breeds legends and superbly talented individuals makes achieving success an exceptionally daunting task, not to mention how one’s path seemingly begins with a touch and go. Some people are deeply aware of this challenge that the thought of climbing the summits of the music trade terrifies them, dissuading potential powerhouses from attempting to get ahead. However, there are incredibly driven individuals who go to great lengths just to materialize their vision of success. One such personality who has managed to rise through the ranks is Alexander Yearns, an emerging multi-talented artist whose passion for securing a coveted spot in the music industry outranks his self-limiting beliefs, doubts, and fears. Because of his spirit, this power player has become one of the rising musicians to look out for.

Widely acclaimed for his stellar growth, distinctive artistry, and incredible talents, Alexander Yearns is an upcoming multi-talented artist who originally hails from New Jersey. Since he was young, he always had a deep-seated interest in the craft, which later grew into a fuel that served as his driving force to get ahead.

Like some passion-driven authorities in the music space, Alexander Yearns was a young artist who had a story to tell before cementing his passion for the craft. When he discovered the craft by listening to Elvis Presley’s masterful pieces, this power player felt the core of his existence being rearranged by one of life’s most precious intangibles – music. Thus, he developed his potential and played music through his drum set at 13, which led him to become part of a band with his older brother. He spent the next six years writing songs and performing on different stages.

Although these milestones already unfolded Alexander’s potential in the music industry, he thought it best to leave the band and focus on his solo career. In 2017, he began playing some of his pieces during open mic nights. In 2018, he released his first EP entitled To Each of Us. This five-song collection dances on the edge of psychedelic folk-rock, emphasizing the rising artist’s compelling voice and incredible talents. Three years later, he dropped his first full-length LP entitled Phoenix, which marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. This LP is a quieter collection, with each song a bit rawer and stripped back, allowing Yearns’ fervent words to go undisguised.

Currently, Alexander Yearns is preparing for a fresh project that he has been working on, which further proves his passion for the craft. He hopes to capture the hearts of listeners across the world in the coming years.

With no intentions of slowing down any time soon, Alexander Yearns will continue to grow, motivating many aspirants to seek personal development and success. He hopes to create more projects that speak volumes of his deep-seated love for the craft. Alexander also plans to create more songs that move hopefuls to transform and impact the lives of others.
