Music can be magical—a force that changes our mood, inspires us, and provides comfort in difficult times. But what goes into creating it? What happens in an artist’s soul when a song is born that touches millions of hearts?
“Kass Hart is an artist for whom music is more than just a profession—it’s the meaning of life. She believes that every song is a story that finds its listener,” says the singer, whose music has already won the hearts of audiences worldwide.
Today, we talk with Kass Hart about her journey, inspiration, creative freedom, and what it means to chase a dream, no matter what.
Let’s start from the beginning. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?
My music is a reflection of my soul. It’s a mix of pop and dance music with elements of R&B. I try to infuse my tracks with as much emotion and honesty as possible. For me, the most important thing is telling a story that resonates with people.
Tell us about your journey in music. How did it all begin?
My journey in music started in childhood. I grew up in a family of jazz musicians, so I was always surrounded by music. I played the piano from an early age and later became passionate about the guitar. But singing didn’t come into my life right away. Even my mother, who was a singer herself, didn’t support the idea at first. But one day, I decided to give it a try and entered a French song contest. Surprisingly, I won the Grand Prix! That moment became a turning point for me.
You participated in a UNESCO-organized competition and were recognized as Best New Artist UNESCO. What did that experience mean for you and your career?
The UNESCO competition was a significant milestone for me. Being named Best New Artist UNESCO made me realize that music was truly what I was meant to do. It gave me a boost of confidence, even though I didn’t see it as a major victory at the time. Rather, it was an important encouragement at the start of my journey.
What was a defining moment in your career?
Meeting a British music manager. At that time, I was performing in nightclubs to make a living, but it was exhausting. The manager inspired me to take a risk and fully focus on songwriting. That’s how my first song was born, and almost immediately, I signed a contract with a British label. It felt like a dream!
You’re now an independent artist. Why did you choose this path?
After working with a label, I realized that our creative visions were slightly different. We ended our collaboration on good terms, and it was an important phase in my artistic growth. Now, as an independent artist, I have the freedom to make my own decisions and find my unique sound.
But that doesn’t mean I intend to stay independent forever. I’m open to negotiations with labels and appreciate their role in an artist’s career. What matters most to me is finding partners who share my vision for music and creativity.
Your recent releases, such as One Night Only and the upcoming Amateur, have been receiving positive feedback. What is your songwriting process like?
I work with an amazing producer, Sam Welch. We speak the same creative language, which is really important to me. The songwriting process is always different. Sometimes the melody comes to me instantly, other times I start with the lyrics. The key is emotion—if a song gives me chills, I know it’s going to work.
What are your plans for the near future?
I have big plans! In the coming months, I’ll be releasing several new tracks, including Amateur. My goal is to make it onto Billboard, win my first major award, and, most importantly, strengthen my connection with my listeners.
What inspires you?
People—their stories, emotions, and experiences. It’s important to me that my songs feel like a conversation with each listener. I also find inspiration in my own experiences, books, movies—even a simple walk can spark an idea for a track.
One last question: What would you like to say to your listeners?
I want to thank everyone who listens to my music. You are my motivation and inspiration. Never be afraid to be yourself and chase your dreams, even if the path seems difficult. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself and keep working hard.
We are grateful to Kass Hart for this insightful conversation and look forward to her upcoming releases!
