It was just seven months ago that Lividity was released, and now Joshua Tree Californian Death/Bass outfit ‘Antania’ is back with today’s release of their second studio album, The God Complex. While the tracks within are full of brooding rage with concepts like murder porn and revenge, the whole thing is a fun romp with complete originality, doom and black bass styling and a serious hard blackened edge.

The God Complex plays up its original death bass nature. Thanks to Dr Luna keeping the production basic yet blistering, the whole experience is a dense, odd, and slightly off-putting effort — in the best way possible. It may take a few listens to get to the heart of this record, but it is very worth it.

From the start, Antania put out an album that features heavy distortion bass lines that clash well with the thumping and grinding death metal electro drums that add to the intensity of each song. Through all of its darkness and heavy, hard-hitting moments, there are also some dark and dystopian themes, but true to the basic elements of dark, creepy music, these elements are captured in a completely original way.

Regarding the album’s musicality, things are layered and full. The album is full of crushing synths, pulsating trap, and Kali Mortem’s signature vocals, which range from snarls to growls to screams. She’s angry!

“The God Complex song,” the opening track, sets the tone for the album with heavy synth work and an overall air of brooding and dread. That being said, “D3D Solz” is probably my favorite song on the album, as it’s one of the catchiest and has the heaviest bass music of all time. “Angels and Demons III ” is another standout due to the repetitive, almost droning heavy synth work. “Black Glitch Six ” is another standout track due to its memorable melody and heavy trap. Dr Luna tears you apart with two solo black ambient songs that stand out terrifying.’ It’s also important to note that most of Antania’s previous releases have been remastered and put out on “The God Complex.”

The life of Sage Waters is a harmonious blend of incredibly distinct cultures and a testament to the power of perseverance. Born to a Haitian father and a Hungarian Swedish/Welsh mother raised on a chicken farm in California, life for Sage was an extraordinary concoction of variety, most evident through the wide spectrum of music in their home.

Sage’s early life was steeped in music and creativity. Tunes formed the backdrop to her childhood as her mother, a professional choir singer, introduced Sage and her sister to a world filled with melodies. Sage’s father, a metallurgist, further completed the potpourri of influences in her life.

Fate threw a curveball at a young age. At just nine years old, Sage had to start undergoing corrective surgeries for a deformity in her right knee. Facing a spate of orthopedic surgeries until she was 22 gave her a unique perspective and ample time for introspection. Bedridden but not defeated, Sage found solace in writing poetry. With each rhythmic verse, she found music to be her constant companion during challenging times.

Later life saw Sage venturing into fine arts, focusing on sculpting the human body, participating as a member of the swimming team, and setting her entrepreneurial foot forward with a house cleaning business. Her unyielding spirit led her to create her own internship at Tarpan Studios with Narada Michael Walden kickstarted a long, lucrative career in professional singing.

Sage’s first paid recording gig was creating bird calls on a Wynonna Judd album around 2000, something her father had taught her as a child.
