Year after year, Stryker Records strikes gold – and 2021 is not any different. After decades of living rent-free at the peak of the music industry, the sought-after label once again leaves its audience in awe by announcing the solo debut of veteran artist Drew Lines.

“Growing up was a struggle, a hard-fought battle, but every man’s struggle is their own,” he shared, “and I have made it through what I hope to be the worst of my own.”

Leveraging sound and writing as a manner of self-expression, Drew Lines slowly attained prominence in literature and music. While confined at a boy’s prison, he wrote over 500 poems and garnered a distinction from The International Poets Society for his published poetry piece “Rose.”

Continuing to perfect his craft, he smoothly transitioned into songwriting and officially launched a career in the industry. In 2010, Drew Lines and his brother C.J. “Sycoscribble” founded “The Brotherhood.” Stamping each track with their signature “authenticity and realism,” the music group quickly skyrocketed and captivated a devoted following while working on their debut album “Initiation.”

For years, the duo serenaded crowds – leaving trails of applause in their wake as The Brotherhood scored timeless hits with the industry’s biggest names until it no longer could. In 2014, an accident robbed the world of the effervescent C.J. Wold. The heart-wrenching news drove Drew into a rabbit hole of misery where he stayed for six months before returning to the industry with a vengeance. 

Debuting as “Tigga” with producer Scott Keller or “Space Kase,” the artist climbed the charts once more and made his name under the duo “Sheol Dynasty.” Their enthralling and magnetic energy birthed the tracks “Because I Can” and “Watch Where you Walk (feat. Solomon Childs)” and sent them on a national tour. 

Sheol Dynasty was quickly gaining momentum. However, as they were soaring toward the top ranks, Drew Lines found himself flying through the windshield in a terrible car accident that left him in a coma.

Waking up to the nightmare of broken bones and fractures would discourage anyone from pursuing their dream further – except, apparently, Drew. Within only months of physical therapy, Drew Lines made a miraculous recovery. Returning to the stage, he and Space Kase, along with T-zank from SMG, launched a 50-day tour and subsequently released the albums, “Immortals” and “Eternal.”

Beating the odds time and again, Drew Lines has proven himself as an unstoppable music artist. As if cementing that reputation, he recently made his solo debut through Stryker Records with the track “Rise,” featuring Clio Cadence, which foretells his unchallenged ascent to the top.

At present, Drew is fine-tuning his debut album with multi-platinum and award-winning producers Malcolm Springer and Scott Wilson at the House of Blues Studio in Nashville. “It’s been a long road, but quitting ain’t in me. I’m always ready for more.”

Grace Wan’s Talent was so successful because she never gave up on her dreams and pursued her talent and passion for succeeding. She is more familiar, having experience working as a director, producer, writer, actor, singer, musician, creator, and drawer.

Canadian-born, Grace Wan grew up in Alberta, Canada, with two younger siblings. Her parents moved to Canada from Hong Kong, and since then, Grace has completed her education.

Starting from Central Elementary School, Grace began taking ballet lessons at the age of 5 and went on to take lessons in skating, singing, guitar and piano in Citadel Middle School. During her education at Riverside Secondary School, she often showcased her piano and singing skills at talent shows.

She was enrolled in acting lessons at Westcoast Actors Studio. Then she continued to pursue her acting career that eventually led her to go to the PAVI film production school for college to become a filmmaker.

Grace’s biggest challenge was that not every time she tried, everything was successful. Her advice to others struggling with the same issue is: Don’t give up on your dreams. If, at first, you are unsuccessful, try everything and do something different to make you happy and successful.

The music industry these days seems to be missing genuine personalities who are unapologetically themselves. It seems that there is a myopic focus on surface-level things such as ice, bling, and cash. Fortunately, Stephen Umehea is here to change all of that, focusing on things that truly matter in his music, personal expression. He does all of this under his artist name, Missing-nin.

For those that might be wondering why Missing-nin seems like such a familiar reference, it’s because it is Stephen’s own way of expressing his passion for the hit anime show, Naruto, a popular show about shinobi or more popularly known in the West as ninjas. Missing-nin literally translates to runaway shinobi, but there’s more to this artist than just his clever references.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Missing-nin started playing music at such a young age. In preschool, he was a talented snare player who let his artistry shine despite breaking the instrument and struggling to compensate for it. Missing-nin’s mother was a true Nigerian lady who disciplined him for his mistakes, even going above and beyond to send her son back with an apology and a glued-up snare in hand.

Missing-nin had a multi-instrumental childhood, as he soon moved to play the trumpet as a young musician and later on transitioned to the piano, which he still plays masterfully to this very day. In high school, he developed a much stronger passion for music, as he discovered the culture of hip-hop and started writing his own songs to enter rap battles. 

Eventually, he found himself being introduced to FL Studio by one of his closest friends. This exact moment started generating some buzz for Missing-nin, allowing him to capture his initial audience.

“I started experimenting with FL studio and fell a lot more deeply in love with making beats than rapping or writing songs,” shared the artist.

However, reality finally sunk in when Missing-nin needed to leave his hometown so he could go to college. He was alone yet again in his musical journey, but he never let it faze him. Between 2013 and 2021, he created over 900 beats and recorded eight songs.

“Making beats just came more naturally to me, and I never really felt like it was imperative to develop my voice as an artist,” he said. “Up until 2020, I had given up hopes of becoming a rapper and was putting more of my energy into establishing myself as a producer. I’d had a couple of stints at rapping in these ten years I was producing, but I never really felt like I had much to say as an artist, so I could never fully commit to it,” the artist added.

The rising star made waves in the music industry with his much-awaited debut EP called Brown, a record that was released on the very first day of 2021, starting the year off right for his enigmatic music career. Nowadays, Missing-nin plans to captivate an even wider audience with his latest upcoming project entitled, Croquis. 

“I had started the Croquis project with the intent of making it as quickly as I’d made Brown, but I’ve been making a lot more music than I can handle at the moment. I grow as an artist every day, and since I make music almost daily, this album has grown with me as well,” said Missing-nin.
