Singer and Songwriter Amanda Rakel Move People by the Flair of Her Pop and EDM

The pop and EDM genres aren’t without their fair share of competition. As the categories get crowded, artist Amanda Rakel has still been able to shine. Accordingly, she has become a strong force in her respect and has built a strong image and music base that continues to attract audiences and fans worldwide.

Amanda Rakel is a brilliant Danish-Swedish singer-songwriter with a flair for pop-EDM. Amanda launched her first single, Sweet Tongues, in September 2015. Sony Music Denmark noticed the song right away and reached out to Amanda to work out a deal. The event spurred Amanda to compose, create and launch more music, not just for labels but more for the people who would enjoy them.

That particular experience became the first step for Amanda when she recorded and released numerous songs. And now, she continues her passion for channeling her life experiences into composing heartfelt lyrics coming up with tunes and melodies. Amanda was born in Germany before her family settled in Switzerland. She and her siblings came to an international school with a comprehensive music program. Amazingly, all three kids auditioned for the choir and got into the team. The school also had a regular Friday event for middle schoolers. During this time, the school did not have a high school meet-up. Amanda cultivated her skills in piano outside of school, and in the music program, she tried the cello and guitar but did not take a liking to any. It would be years before she discovered that her talent lay in writing lyrics and singing.

Amanda’s mother was one of the most influential people in her life. The mother of the promising artist always sang with her, her older sister and younger brother. ABBA, Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, and Michael Jackson would be sung along when driving the kids to and from school. Amanda’s second car accident came at the age of four and is attributed to headbanging to Michael Jackson’s Earth Song on the backseat of the car. Unfortunately, she had released her seatbelt, so Amanda proceeded to fly headfirst into the radio when her mum hit the brakes. She thankfully escaped with just a bloody nose. Unfortunately, the life-threatening accident interrupted her bachelor’s studies in London. So she attended a university in Staten Island after her recovery. Sadly, things didn’t go quite as planned, so she left the university after two years.

Having a powerful feeling that she had nothing to lose, she went public with her songwriting skills. Amanda decided to finish her bachelor’s degree online. She then moved to Copenhagen, where she started pursuing her music career. Since November 2015, she’s worked with her long-term co-writer Mette Damm.

In 2021, Amanda’s track entitled Higher Ground would make waves across music circles. She worked with multi-grammy nominated artist Boom Dice to bring the track to life. Amanda’s co-creator is best known for working with artists like Florence + The Machine, Disclosure, Stormzy, and Sofi Tukker. Some of her other tracks include songs like I Tried, Magnetic, I Don’t Wanna Dance, and many others.

Amanda Rakel hopes to continue collaborating with other artists and releasing new material that will inspire and entertain listeners worldwide.

Currently, Amanda is working on several new projects involving The FifthGuys and Grammy Nominated Producer, Stonebridge.  Slated for release later this summer, expect to be moved by more intense vocals surrounded by uplifting production, bringing to life the soul of this talented artist.

Emerging Artist Shawn2Hot on His Relentless Drive, Distinctive Artistry, and Upcoming Album

Undeniably, skills and talents both play a significant role in catapulting artists to the summits of success. However, in a highly saturated industry such as the music scene, having these abilities and gifts is not enough to truly make a mark. At the end of the day, the only thing that can distinguish a musician from the others is their deep-rooted passion for their respective crafts. In the case of emerging artist Shawn2Hot, it is shown that anything is possible for those who choose to be relentless with their pursuits.

On a mission to share his music with the world, Shawn2Hot taps into his creative flair while demonstrating an incredible sense of authenticity and originality. As someone who has always been passionate about his craft, he made it his lifelong goal to elevate the hip-hop scene and show how much of an impact his distinctive artistry can make. Today, he proves to be one of the must-watch artists in the hip-hop arena.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana, Shawn2Hot migrated to the United States when he was sixteen years old. Growing up, he listened to oldies, reggae, alternative, and rock music. However, no other genre made him feel the way hip-hop did. According to the artist, his introduction to hip-hop music was Snoop Dog’s Doggystyle album. Since then, his life has never been the same.

At the age of ten, Shawn2Hot started to write poems that eventually turned into songs. When he was seventeen, he began to make beats and dabbled in the world of audio production. This skill would help him kick off his music career, particularly in producing tracks, formulating melodies, and writing music without any professional training. The artist describes his style as thinking outside the box. His struggles of being in a poverty-ridden environment and exposure to violence as a child play a part in his gritty writing style and battle rap flow.

The first single that Shawn2Hot released was “Can’t Hold Me,” which was followed by his second single, “Lust.” The latter created a buzz in the underground hip-hop scene, currently reaching over a hundred thousand streams. The artist’s third single, “Into You,” was aired on Power105 together with his 6th single, “Right Now.”

Aside from creating significant waves with his music, Shawn2Hot is also known for being the brilliant mind behind Volcano Music Group, an up-and-coming record label that is set to revolutionize the industry. In an interview, the artist shared how he was able to come up with the idea of starting his very own company.

“Sitting around while waiting for a major label to pick my work up seemed like a pipe dream. I needed to take control of the situation,” Shawn2Hot revealed. “I then ran an online beat store which went under the name of Volcano Music. At that time, the motivation, vision, and resources were all accessible. I eventually decided to convert the beat store into a record label to be able to release my music.”

Shawn2Hot’s album, Volcano Music Vol. 1, is scheduled to be released on May 27th with features from StephG, Sabrina Foxx, Adrian Roxstar, Busta Rhymes, and many others. His versatility, creativity, and love for music will make this upcoming album a game-changer for his record label as well as the hip-hop culture in general. So much has gone into the making and publicity surrounding this release, and the artist could not be any prouder of launching the album independently.

15 Years of Digital Music Streaming: How Spotify Radically Impacted the Music Industry

Music streaming has significantly evolved throughout the years from bulky vinyl, CDs, and the radio. Today, the music streaming industry is dominated by Spotify. The platform did not merely provide a more convenient solution for one of America’s greatest pastimes but also addressed various problems faced by record labels and independent artists, such as piracy. After 15 years since its founding, Spotify remains at the top.

Spotify was founded in 2006 by two Swedish entrepreneurs, Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon. The duo wanted to build a platform that would address the rising demand for audio-streaming services among consumers who did not particularly want to purchase physical albums or might want easy access to a library of songs by artists from any part of the world. Spotify is an open archive offering unlimited streams for those who avail of its subscription, but it also offers free streaming for users who do not mind listening to advertisements.

Initially headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Spotify reached new heights when it finally launched in the US market in 2011. Since then, the platform grew from having only 7% of users in the United States in 2010 to a staggering 83% by the end of 2020, according to Variety. Spotify currently has offices in 17 countries, has over 356 million active users worldwide, and over 158 million paying subscribers. Spotify’s library holds over 70 million songs from various record labels and media companies, all of which are subjected to the streaming platform’s digital copyright restrictions.

With Spotify’s affordability, experts have found a significant decline in online piracy. Record labels and music companies have been struggling to fight against piracy after the illegal downloading and file-sharing solutions introduced by Napster, Limewire, and other sites encouraged people to disregard the idea of paid music. By introducing a cheaper alternative to the traditional CD albums, Spotify changed a generation’s perspective about piracy and digital property.

Spotify’s vast library also allows users to explore multiple genres. The platform also created “Mood Playlists,” categorizing songs into moods, therefore saving users time to search for songs that carry the same vibes. The “Mood Playlist” includes songs from various genres. One of Spotify’s generated playlists is called the Mood Booster, which includes happy songs from multiple genres, artists, and even languages.

The platform’s unique feature called Spotify Clips also revolutionized the industry as it gave listeners a glimpse of the lives of their favorite artists through the stories they share. Artists can record short clips of themselves and connect with fans as they would on Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.

Spotify also stepped in to help communities amid the challenging times of the pandemic. The platform launched a feature called Artist Fundraising Pick, which allows fans to donate directly to artists, who will then give the proceeds to their chosen charity.

Spotify has indeed radically changed the way people stream music. Beyond portability, the platform has addressed some of the most controversial issues in the music industry and provided avenues for artists to showcase their everyday life. With its rapid growth in 2021 despite the pandemic, there’s no doubt that Spotify is here to stay.

Bruno Mars Leaves the Door Open for His Eighth No. 1 Hit On Billboard Hot 100

Bruno Mars is at the top of his game. Consistently elevating the industry’s standards with each track and album release, the music artist has once again secured number one—this time as one-half of the critically-acclaimed team “Silk Sonic” with Anderson .Paak.

Since its release last March 5, 2021, the R&B super duo’s track “Leave the Door Open” has crooned its way into radios worldwide and, recently, into the No. 1 spot of Billboard’s Hot 100—marking Bruno’s eighth time on the list.

A well-loved and celebrated creative, Bruno Mars is a multi-talented American singer, songwriter, and performer. He first developed his craft at a young age as an Elvis Presley impersonator before putting pen to paper and moving to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue music. Although he often wrote songs for the industry’s biggest names, it wasn’t until 2010 that Bruno would rise to stardom.

The year was defined by his soulful vocals’ success on “Nothin’ on You” by B.o.B., Bruno’s first Billboard Hot 100 No.1, and Travis McCoy’s “Billionaire.” Fresh from the attention of his collaborative work, Bruno Mars launched his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans in the same year. To say it succeeded would be an understatement.

With chart-topping hits such as “The Lazy Song” and Billboard Hot 100 No.1 Tracks “Grenade” and “Just The Way You Are,” Bruno’s debut album cemented his reputation as a multi-talented artist. His masterful blend of pop, reggae, funk, R&B, hip-hop, soul, and rock attracted a loyal, international following that continues to grow with each released track.

The versatile music artist’s subsequent two visits to the coveted list occurred under promotions of his second album, Unorthodox Jukebox, in 2012. Containing undeniably groovy tracks, it came as no surprise when Bruno’s “Locked Out of Heaven” and, later, “When I Was Your Man” found spots on the Billboard.

Two years later, he was back. In 2014, Bruno Mars was featured on Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!” The single swept worldwide charts and reigned king at Billboard’s Hot 100 for an awe-inducing fourteen weeks. Bruno’s third studio album, the fan-favorite “24K Magic,” soon followed with iconic hits, generating another No.1 spot with “That’s What I Like” on the charts and multiple well-deserved Grammy awards for the artist and his talented team.

This year, Bruno makes history with his eighth stay on the sought-after seat. Debuting as “Silk Sonic” with fellow industry game-changer Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars has snagged another Billboard Hot 100 No.1 spot with “Leave the Door Open.”

Released only this year, the single has left the door open for multiple chart recognitions and unending praise for the crowned super duo’s creativity and performance. Featuring a unique and sexy tune, “Leave The Door Open” has serenaded fans worldwide, attracting a growing and diverse fanbase and redefining R&B.

Iconic Virgin Records Return as Universal’s “Virgin Music Label & Artist Services”

Music enthusiasts of the ’80s to the early 1990s know the name Virgin Records Ltd. The British independent record label stood behind the success of platinum-record artists such as Janet Jackson, Phil Collins, Lenny Kravitz, Paula Abdul, Devo, Genesis, the Human League, Culture Club, Simple Minds, and Mike Oldfield, to name a few.

This year, to the excitement of fans worldwide, the company is proud to announce its official return.

Established in 1972 by the entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Nik Powell, Simon Draper, and celebrated musician Tom Newman, Virgin Records Ltd. was expected to succeed. Its name was rooted in Branson and Powell’s record shop “Virgin Records and Tapes” in Notting Hill Gate, London, before transitioning into a formidable label, managing and representing some of the industry’s greats.

Its first production, “Tubular Bells” by the skilled musician Mike Oldfield quickly established the label’s reputation as a rising force in the market. The subsequently released “Phaedra” by Tangerine Dream became a chart-topping hit, attracting a following along with “The Faust Tapes” and “Faust IV” by the multi-talented Faust.

The next few years would only further Virgin Records Ltd. into international recognition. The company would go on to sign the Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd, Fingerprintz, the Ruts, and Shooting Star, among others.

This was the coveted image that the record label held when Thorn EMI acquired it in 1992 and when EMI was adopted by the Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2012. This year, UMG has announced Virgin Records Ltd’s relaunch, capturing the label’s iconic and trendsetting image in its prime and bringing it to the 21st century.

On the establishment of Virgin Music Label & Artist Services, Richard Branson states, “I’m proud that half a century after we opened our first independent record shop in London, the Virgin Music name continues to represent the very best entrepreneurs, innovators, and artists from the world of music today.”

Effective immediately, the rebirthed label is designed to lead each region under UMG with veritable platinum records and chart-topping hits. Virgin Music Label & Artist Services will be providing global solutions with innovative, international perspectives; and an expert team is already in place in the five main music markets.

The newly-announced subsidiary will cater to the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Latin America. Much recently, Virgin Music Label & Artist Services also announced its entrance into the Australian stage.

Formerly operating as “Caroline Australia,” UMG’s label services arm will continue under the Virgin name, unveiling exciting developments and rebranding strategies intended to kickstart its “biggest year yet,” termed by Tim Janes, the Managing Director of the Australian label.

With a powerhouse roster under his care, nothing stands in the way of Tim’s and the Virgin Music Australia Label’s success. At present, the company supports the talents of Aitch, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Mac DeMarco, Dave, SG Lewis, Iggy Pop, Digga D, and countless more.

After the thrilling string of announcements by UMG concerning the revival of the Virgin Music brand, fans worldwide can’t wait for updates on its expansion, along with the return of the classic, iconic rock sound of the past decades.

Troye Sivan’s: A Queer Icon in The Music Industry

As the world becomes progressive by the minute, the LGBTQ community continues to seek proper representation in the media. Although there have been queer stories popping here and there, such as Call Me By Your Name and Love, Simon movies, there is still so much needed to be done. Australian singer-songwriter Troye Sivan shares the same sentiments. More than two years after the release of his album called Bloom, it remains the top-tier track that tackles queerness in pop songs.

His songs are a breath of fresh air. For so long, queer stories have revolved around unrequited love and forbidden relationships. However, Sivan’s Bloom album shies away from the traditional queer narrative. Instead, his songs explicitly tell he’s out and proud, and his LGBTQ fans can do the same too, that is, to be themselves no matter what.

Right at the beginning, the Bloom album directly caters the modern listeners. For example, the “Seventeen” song relishes Sivan’s first sexual experience with an older man from a dating app. Instead of portraying the music in a predatory narrative as most mainstream queer stories do, it shows Sivan’s perspective of how he naively believed everything to be true. For his queer fanbase, the song depicts a queer boy’s discovery of his sexuality and identity.

“My My My!” comes next in the album, which illustrates the first electrifying stages of a relationship. This theme is present in all relationships, especially queer ones. In the music video, Sivan plainly shows lust over his new boyfriend as he pens, “an ode to the boy he loves.” Like the first stages of love, the ‘80s aesthetic and tune of the song are purely euphoric. There is no argument that the track resonates deeply with Sivan’s growing fanbase.

Perhaps, one of the best songs on the album is “Bloom.” With its catchy tune, the song tells a story about losing one’s virginity and the beauty of gay intimacy. Troye Sivan openly admits in an interview, “You know, for me, this is really real life, being able to celebrate these things, being able to talk about these things, and just being as open and honest as you want, and I didn’t want to come to this album writing for anyone but me and my friends. I wanted to make an album that I was proud of, that felt exciting to me, and that felt honest to me, and felt like something that made sense of me. And a big part of that was exploring these themes the way I would amongst friends or whatever.”

On the other hand, there is the “Good Side,” a mature, slow ballad showing Sivan getting the best part out of a breakup. It juxtaposes the song “Bloom,” which is about lustful beginnings. “Good Side” is all about heartbreaking goodbyes.

This whole album of Troye Sivan is one of his queer-positive projects. Over the years, he has earned loyalty from his LGBTQ audience because of his no-bullshit attitude. He does not try to preach his ways. He simply just lives.

Superstar Rapper Polo G’s Journey From Kid in the Hood to Billboard’s Chart-Topping Artist

Polo G’s song Rapstar skyrocketed to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 songs chart only a week after it was released, and it is currently maintaining its momentum. Produced by Columbia Records, Rapstar gained 40.3 million streams in the United States alone and sold over 2,400 downloads by April 22. The song also attracted three million radio airplay. Rapstar’s current status places Polo G at a higher league, making the single one of his most notable phenomena to date.

Rapstar features Polo G’s story of becoming a superstar rapper. It features the exhausting process the artist went through to reach his goals and how he overcame insecurities along the way. In an interview with Complex, the rapper said, “It’s about the ups and downs of this lifestyle,” referring to the life of a celebrity. “You know you can be winning, and even though all of the good shit that’s happening, you can still have those emotional battles,” he added. Rapstar became a monumental success, trending No. 1 on YouTube within its first 24 hours of release.

Polo G previously told the press that he wrote everything he wanted to accomplish on a vision board at the beginning of his career. One of his goals was to create a chart-topping hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite the massive success the superstar rapper is experiencing today, reaching his goals did not happen overnight.

Born Taurus Tremani Bartlett, Polo G’s career began in 2018 when he landed his first record deal after gaining attention from the millions of streams his track called Gang With Me obtained on SoundCloud. Polo G kept the momentum by releasing more greetings such as Welcome Back, Neva Cared, and Finer Things, which quickly gained millions of views in the latter half of 2018. But before he found his way to music, Polo G struggled to overcome the lifestyle he had in the hood.

In May of 2018, Polo G was facing multiple arrests for selling weed and selling cars. After seeing how his struggles reflected other kids from his hometown Chicago, the rapper wanted to amplify the emotions of his upbringing and shed light on the stories of Chicago kids like himself who have been exposed and wounded by their environment.

Polo G was raised in a humble home in Marshall Field Garden Apartments, one of the most impoverished housing projects in Chicago. He described his upbringing as impoverished from all material things and that his parents, who married young, were learning things as they go. Despite their family’s lack of financial stability, his mother aspired to great things for him after realizing that he was articulate and well-spoken even at a young age.

“It was a really humble beginning. It was a family sense. Although a lot of things go on, we’d still show love off the strength of our parents, etc. I was seeing the typical things every Chicago kid sees but more up close and personal. You see the average things: drug dealings, drama, violence, things of that sort. I was just maneuvering, trying to survive, becoming a product of my environment, but also being able to quickly pull myself away from that,” Polo G shared in an interview.

Today, after overcoming the hood, Polo G wants to set an example to other Chicago kids who have been exposed to violence, drugs, gangs, and other challenging circumstances through his vivid storytelling. Polo G currently lives with his son Tremani.

Country Singer Thomas Rhett’s New Song is an “Emotional” Ode for His Three Daughters

With his chart-topping and award-winning songs, Thomas Rhett is one of the most notable icons in today’s country music scene. His captivating lyrics often leave fans eager to learn the narrative behind his music. The country star further intrigued global fans when he shared that his recent album, which topped this week’s new releases, is his most “personal” creation yet.

The country singer is dropping his new album called Country Again: Side A this month, and he revealed that the songs spring from deeply personal experiences and emotions in his life. Thomas Rhett has never shied from revealing his personality through his music, but the songs in his recent album feature raw stories and aspirations. One of which is the song called To The Guys That Date My Girls, which is the country singer’s ode to his three daughters Willa, Ada, and Lennon.

Thomas Rhett shared in an interview, “I was riding around with a buddy of mine from Charleston in Nashville about a one year and a half ago, and we were just talking… about that whole perspective from the dad, being like what would you say to that person? What would you say to the guy who came up to your door, ‘Hey, I’m here to take your daughter on a date.’ Like, are you gonna be the real tough dad? Are you gonna be the dad who invites him in for coffee? Like which kind of version are you going to be?”

“This [song] is kind of like a rough draft of a letter that I kind of felt like things a guy would need to know when you come over to my house to pick up one of my daughters for the first time,” the country singer added. To The Guys That Date My Girls speaks to fathers who are particularly anxious about the inevitable time when their daughters would begin to date and eventually marry someone to create their own family. The song is also said to be “making grown men cry.”

Country Again: Side A will also feature other songs such as Want It Again, Growing Up, and his recent single What’s Your Country Song. The album will also include Heaven right Now, Where We Grew Up, More Time Fishin, Ya Heard, Country Again, Put It On Ice, and Blame It On a Backroad. Furthermore, with the release of his new masterpieces, Thomas Rhett gained the ACM Male Artist of the Year award.

Country Again: Side A is everything I wanted to say when I was 19 years old but hadn’t lived enough to know how to say any of those things yet,” Thomas Rhett said in a press release. “It’s about the crazy journey that took me out into the world over the last ten years and ultimately brought me back home, more centered and content than ever, with a deep understanding for what’s important in life. I’ve had a blast sharing some of these songs in their acoustic form during quarantine and am blown away by the reaction the fans have already shown.”

Country Again: Side A will be available on April 30. Thomas Rhett is also eyeing the release of the album Side B later in the year.

Billie Eilish Thrills Fans With Upcoming Album Happier Than Ever, Says it’s Her “Favorite Thing”

Billie Eilish has caused a stir in the music industry with the launching of her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019, which reached the top 15 in the United States, UK, Canada, and Australia. Since then, the American singer and songwriter has won seven Grammy awards, two Guinness World Records, three MTV Video Music Awards, and many more notable accolades. This year, Billie Eilish brought exciting news to her global fans with the announcement of her second album, to be released in July 2021.

The Happier Than Ever Album showcases Billie Eilish’s growth as an artist. The 19-year-old singer even intrigued fans about her metamorphosis by releasing a photo of her new blonde shag cut on Twitter. Despite the change in her appearance, the artist still bears the air of familiarity, assuring fans that her upcoming songs will just be as relatable and memorable as those in her first album.

Billie Eilish has been teasing fans about her new project for months. She also captured the attention of music lovers across the globe with her genuine statements about the upcoming album on her social media platforms. On Instagram, the singer wrote: “This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created, and I am so excited and nervous and eager for you to hear it. I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one. Hope you feel what I feel.”

Songs in Happier Than Ever are written by Billie Eilish together with her brother Finneas O’Connell. The songwriter and musical collaborator has also been instrumental in the success of her first album. With Finneas on board, Eilish aims to take listeners down a tranquil journey through music. The singer-songwriter has already given fans hints of what to expect with the soft, beige, monochromatic teaser videos she posted on multiple online platforms. The theme of the new album is in contrast with the dark and almost horror-like vibes of her debut album.

Happier Than Ever was recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown, Billie Eilish told Stephen Colbert in an interview on Late Night. The singer shared that the songs are inspired by the challenging events of the past year, but they don’t necessarily revolve around the pandemic. Furthermore, Eilish told Colbert on the show, “I don’t think I would’ve made the same album, or even the album at all if it weren’t for COVID. That doesn’t mean it’s about COVID at all, it’s just that, when things are different in your life, you’re different. That’s just how it is. So, I have to thank COVID for that, and that’s about it.”

The pop star also announced that a new single from the upcoming album would be available on April 29, giving fans a taste of the 16-song album to be released later in the summer. Apple Music tracklist also revealed that the album would include songs entitled Billie Bossa Nova, my future, Oxytoxic, Lost Cause, and NDA
