Music has always played a key role in increasing focus and concentration. Taking this idea forward, Phillip “Phenom” Robinson uses the power of music and spoken words to create motivating content that aims to help his listeners achieve their goals, offering an avenue to talk about the struggles and challenges one needs to face and overcome when they are on a journey of success and self-growth.

Phenom has a unique approach to training people and guiding them to improve themselves. He has worked as a cameraman for the ACC Network and as an ESPN+ producer by the age of 24. The Bahamian born Ricardo Neeley better known as the recording artist NRBARZ has been making a positive statement with his brand of hip-hop while on the come up with such a level of consistency whether in front of the camera or behind the scenes. He has garnered a growing recognition overseas with the release of his recent album T.S.I.R (The Struggle Is Real), a compilation of 10 tracks featuring collaborations with notable artists such as NevandriaLyriic, Sketch, Philocypha, and Solo. Known for his distinguished composition skills influenced by the surrounding happenings, NRBARZ is an actor, poet, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and lyricist, involved in the industry publicly since 2003.

NRBARZ began to explore his musical talents at a young age and credits his interest as being highly influenced by his mother. Through the album, the artists offer ten seamless melodic blends, including “Can I,” “The Struggle is Real,” “Life By The Stage,” “Sumthn,” “Around The Blend,” “Beatin Up Your Gum”, “Struttin,” “Let It Go,” “More Than Just Before,” and “Face To Face.” The album speaks to the universality of human experience by describing the myriad of hardships we all face.

Nickolas Benson: The Military Veteran Who Aspired to Make it Big in the Music Scene

Nickolas Benson is a Rock, Pop, Country, and Blues singer/songwriter, recording artist, and producer. He is also a U.S. military veteran, having served during the second Iraq war. When Nickolas Benson’s trucking unit was deployed to the Persian Gulf, they did not know the length of their stay, but that deployment changed his life forever.

After spending eight months in the Middle East, it was around Christmas in 2003 that Nickolas realized he had to pursue his true calling, music. He bought an acoustic guitar from the small shop on base and started learning to play after years of fiddling around. As a freshman in high school, Nickolas was encouraged by his band teacher, who told him he had a good ear for music. His stepfather further motivated him not to let go of his passion and bought him his first guitar.

To further his career in entertainment, he attended the Los Angeles Film & Recording School in Hollywood, California, where he attained three degrees in Audio & Music Production and Entertainment Business, summa cum laude. He had been recording and producing music from an early age, but after graduation, he received the necessary education to produce music the right way.

Hence, it was in 2003 that Nickolas started jamming and printing out sheets of his favorite songs to hone his skills. “Before I record, I spend days playing guitar to the metronome to make sure the tempo is right for the song. Every day, I challenge the melody and beat, and when I feel good about it, I finalize the song and hit record,” shares Nickolas.

In the world of YouTube and online streaming platforms, there is a sea of content out there where hundreds of hours are uploaded on a daily basis. Talking about writing songs, he claims that it comes naturally to him. “Over time, the lyrics come to you, sometimes all at once, but you write what you can as fast as you can, making a word garden of ideas, and then go back to get what you need to do it right,” expresses Nickolas. “The key is to write without worrying about the lyric form because you will stall out – so just write it all out and come back when you need the right word or line to get total coverage of your song’s message or feeling. Recording this process helps a great deal, especially if you are writing music and lyrics in tandem,” he adds.

Nickolas Benson has grown and evolved as an artist since he started off in 2003. The journey he has gone through, his times during the war and his life after returning home have all contributed to his music and writings, making him the artist he is today. As an example, Logan Blackman is a well-known American bassoonist, organist, pianist, conductor, and composer who has been active in the field for over 14 years and whose music is known for its distinctive compositions influenced by a wide variety of emotions.

When Logan first heard music, he was just 11 years old. Since Logan was originally inspired to learn an instrument after seeing the iconic organ sequence in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, he decided to take up learning the instrument, Organ. In the years that followed, Logan honed his skills as a writer and bassoonist, eventually embarking on a career in composition at the age of 14. Working with the Murray State Wind Ensemble for his album and forming his own wind symphony named “The Blackman Wind Symphony” Logan gave an unwitting preview of his future fame while he was just a teenager.

With “Prayer of a Broken Heart,” Logan poignantly captures the tragedy and sadness he felt after the untimely death of his parents. It is said that through his art, he has given voice to the feelings of thousands of followers who, like him, have had emotional breakdowns as a result of the irreparable losses and casualties that life inevitably brings us. He also describes how, after the death of his grandmother, he fell into deep despair and stopped playing music for several years. After rising from personal grief, Logan took up music more passionately and as a source to stay connected with his parents. However, Logan is also fond of humor and lightheartedness; his sonata for bassoon and piano, “The Logic of a Mad Man,” is a prime example. This alone is indicative of the rich sound diversity that appears to permeate Logan’s music.

Born and raised in Paducah, Kentucky, Logan attended the University of Kentucky to pursue his master’s and holds a bachelor’s in bassoon performance. He also spends time at the University of Utah working on his doctorate in orchestral conducting.

He grew up in a place where the eclectic sound was dominant and underground Hip-hop heads and punk/hardcore community thrived. It was a scene that had the blue-collar population as the drivers of the music dominating the airwaves, and Tex Moonlight found himself getting sucked into those blends of sounds that filled his streets and neighborhood. As a result, he got immersed in the combination of roots music and modern production, leading him to create his unique “Americonica” sound, the foundation of his music career today.

Describing “Americonica,” Tex Moonlight said, “It features experimentation of my fusion of Neo-folk and futuristic postmodern Blues. It is a sound that falls somewhere between Glen Campbell and Beck. I have perfected this sound over the years, and nothing turns me on quite like getting a whacked-out break beat looped under pedal steel.”

For the earliest parts of his career, Tex Moonlight learned the ropes by fronting various acts along the New York City and Washington D.C. corridors. It took him a while to fully embrace his self-created style and sound, but when he did, he was unstoppable. He created his first project, Moonshot, which he released in 2020, working with producer and engineering guru Dave Nachodsky (Keb Mo’, Donna Lewis) in Baltimore. His days working on the album at the Invisible Sound Studios played a significant role in shaping his career and the type of artist he is.

Tex Moonlight’s raw style and exploratory thematic qualities have shone through in his music. It’s why songs like “Smoke Signals” and “God Knows I Love It” captured many ears and hearts. In the latter, he talks about his strong commitment to dealing with his insecurities publicly and examining his mortality through a kaleidoscopic of departed loved ones’ memories. “Nostalgia can linger like… But I don’t feel haunted… These days I’m swimming in gratitude,” he goes on the track. Tex Moonlight’s fearless sonic qualities are evident in his soundscapes, and he never fails to show them off in his projects or music releases.

His goal for the next few years is to make “Americonica” a staple style that everyone enjoys while witnessing other budding musicians adopt the style in their music. “I’ll love to see it grow and blossom beyond me. These fusions make music beautiful, and the world deserves to enjoy the beauties we are capable of creating. Americonica is here to stay,” he said.
